Old Bear rides a mule!!

Several folks jumped on my one belled mule for Old Bear which is broke only for packing.

Don't you just love it when you learn something new each day?

My first rides as a little snot was on Grandpa's razorback mules. We would lure them into the barn, get a rope over their neck and stand on a 5 gallon bucket to bridle them. It was bareback 2 and 3 cousins per mule. If one can imagine sitting on the edge of a 2x4 you have it. The mules were patient, several years went by before we found out they had never been trained to ride. Just pull implements.

I can see that happening.:)

When I was about twelve my Grandpa farmed just about every vacant lot in North Topeka. He always had a couple teams of Belgians and one of them was a pretty buckskin color. I asked him one day, "Grandpa can I ride that horse?" He told me, "I have no idea, but you're sure able to try."
Was like a extra wide rocking chair.

My gosh where to start.
I had a great time, mule adventure and all. Chip and Ms. Judy are two of the nicest folks I've ever met.

Someone ask Chip to explain how a "Pond sized" Trout, PROPERLY hooked could snap a line the size of Para-cord:D:D

In the four corners area now. Then on to Houston on Sunday to meet up with Bill H.

Thanks All,

Fred

P.s. Chip only the strong survive and my head is above water.

Mule Packer: Your mules look mildly annoyed. Don't they ever smile?

"I don't know about his one!
A good gaited horse, TWH and foxtrotter, etc. Is like riding in a rocking chair when they are in their gait! Everybody likes a rocking chair! "

Good mules come from good mares. Breed your gaited mares with a good jack and then you get a gaited mule. Best of both worlds!

No, they're not annoyed. Ole Joe was right. They just don't like to have their pictures taken. As proof, here's another picture of Scotty where he's sticking his tongue out at the camera. That's just another difference between mules and horses...mules have a sardonic sense of humor.:D

Jeez Chip that is one N.C.cowboy. You are so kind to him. I'm gonna put him on a green broke, proud cut, 14-3, appendix bred quarter pony when he gets here Sunday. I like the pic my friend, you got a much better view than us swamp landers. Watch for upcoming pics of Old Bears excellent adventure. To be continued.

Bill, just a damn minuet, ya never said a word about any horses:eek: when we set this up. Put me on whatever, but if I come off hard, you are gonna have to pay for dinner;)
