Just got back from my Paw Paw Tunnel Walk Through. Still need to edit the video.
Since my GPS didn't work in the tunnel, I can't tell ya how far I went.
I'm guessin' about 3 miles or so.
Was interesting, I found that the temperature in the tunnel was 11 degrees cooler than the walk up.
81 degrees today. When my wife gets home, we're planning a nice hike over the tunnel.

I got in a 5.9 mile walk this fine Fall morning. I've been having leg cramps on and off for a couple of weeks. They got me out of bed last night to stretch. I think beer and high sodium foods are the root cause. I'm going to back off on the beer and salty snacks and see if that helps. My additional active chores for today will be a two mile grocery run for yogurt that is coming off sale tomorrow. Then I'll take a trip to the Houston Galleria in search of a pair of my favorite running shoes which are on sale at a great price. Hopefully they will have my size.
Since muscle cramping is part of the fun of my motor nerve condition, we did a little research and found that about 4 ounces of tonic water with quinine before bedtime helps. It doesn't stop the cramping all together but it does make it more manageable.

Yes - also make sure you're properly hydrated all day.

I'm pretty sure the diuretic effects of two big bottles of Guinness Extra Stout dehydrated me yesterday evening and was the primary cause of the cramping. After my beer drought getting below 190 I've caught up on my beer consumption and will taper off to a couple every now and then for a while.

I share a daily beer with my wife.
Once a week or so, I'll have beers and a cigar while grillin' meat. At least as long as the weather holds out.

Hey guys, been a bit since I last posted. My 5K is a little more than a week away and it's not looking good. My hips are locking up on me, just like they did this spring. Been backing off that and riding the bikes (road and mountain) more. It's frustrating since I can ride a bike at high tempo (140-150 heart rate) for hours and never have an issue, but as soon as I start running more than 3 miles, my hips punish me. Oh well, I've got stretches from a sports doctor and will just have to take it slow with the running. My strength training is going better, starting to get my bench back. Put up 225 for 9 reps this week at a body weight of 219. My weight has creeped up some this summer, but I've been lifting heavy and I'm pretty sure I haven't put on any fat.

I've spent four months acclimating to oppressively hot and humid weather. Now it's 70 degrees and there is a slightly dry north breeze outside. I wonder what I did with my Arctic gear? I wonder if it still fits? I did find a heavy weight t-shirt to wear this morning. I've got a six mile walk planned for this morning. Later I do a 3.5 mile round trip to a grocery store. I really do not need anything, but my gym is closed for renovations, so the long walk will burn off extra energy. Have a great day!

As kwselke has reported we have fall weather here ,at least for a few days,so I hope to get some more energetic work in today. Bow season is almost here!

We were planning a bike ride today but our cat Sandy's ill. She won't eat and spends all of her time. Laying under an end table.
Usually when we open a can, her and Natayo are the first two there. Now she didn't eat any moist cat food even when we put it right under her nose.
We have an appointment with the pet doc. at 3:30 today.

Down a pound and a half. Exercising more and recording it accurately.
Doing walking PT twice a week.

Who is NOT a football fan, I root for the Browns, Jaguars and Notre Dame...can I pick 'em or what?

Life long Browns fan here, born and raised 15 miles west of Muni stadium and experienced the original Dog Pound in the late 80's when it was the real deal. I didn't have a choice but to like them, but I'm not switching allegiance no matter what. At least I have the Buckeyes to root for :)

Aww man, sorry to hear this. Hopefully it turns out to be something temporary and Sandy returns to her normal self soon.

Vet checked her out, did a blood test and found nothing.
That's good in one way and not so good in another.
She has a fever and her heart rate's up.
They figure it's bacterial and gave her a shot to bring the fever down.
We have antibiotics for her and some easily digested, high in nutrition food.
She ate some but if she doesn't eat more, we'll havta force feed her.
Always seems like, when I finally scrape enough pennies together for a new gun. Something happens.
However, I can wait on a gun. Sandy needed help now.

It was a beautiful Fall morning in Houston and I got in a 6.75 mile predawn walk. Later in the morning I went to my gym and did 20 minutes of interval work on the elliptical machine and 20 minutes on the weight machine. Over the last week my weight has fluctuated dramatically. My caloric consumption was not the cause. On 9/22 I weighed 187.2 by 9/27 it had jumped up to 191.0. Yesterday it had dropped to 189.2 and this morning (9/29) it was 186.8. Classic example of fluid retention followed by water weight drop. Too much salt plays nasty tricks on ones body. I've flushed four extra pounds in two days. :o

Good workout today, felt strong.
I know that with my motor nerve condition, I can expect just so much.

So much for grillin', beer drinkin' and cigar smokin'. Rained all last night, all day today and supposed to continue on into tomorrow morning.
Not sure what we're gonna do tomorrow. Even if the rain stops, the trails'll be all muddy and nasty.

It's another good morning for a walk. I think I'll do the Deerwood loop, which is 5.65 miles. Later in the morning a trip to the grocery store is in order, then 45 minutes in the gym before lunch. The weather has cooled but I'll continue to do my walks early for the quiet and to avoid traffic. The nice thing about cooler weather is that walking later in the day is no longer a brutal experience. Go Cougars! :D Have a great day!

40+ degree temp drop since a few days ago! Mid 80's today for a high will get me moving. My blood sugar seems to be holding steady but my vision is doing strange things, going to the eye Dr. As soon as I can get in. Really thought it was tied to blood sugar levels but now I am not so sure so I need a real Doc.
