I finally took delivery of my Wolf its a MB 1990 GD 250 and a pretty nice rust free example. As one of our members here stated in a previous post it is painfully slow , but feels unstoppable, so I`ll just have to learn to deal with the lack of power. I`m taking it to the shop tomorrow to see if anything can be done to + the power even if just a small bit- anything will be an improvement. The ride isn't too bad all things considered, but the noise level is LOUD. It has a very nice stereo why I`ll never know,I expect I`ll remove it and sell it , because at anything above an idle its useless. Now I`m going to start outfitting it to be my camera/ expedition vehicle. Suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance

The soft top limits your noise isolation options a bit, but I've had good luck with a product called Dynamat in the past. Stereo-install businesses may be a good source of info for the latest isolation products.

Polyurea spray-on coatings can be used for sound attenuation as well as protecting the underbody.

Good luck with your project - that's a very cool vehicle you have there !

That looks like a great photo expedition vehicle. That roll cage looks like it would support a nice rooftop platform. Enjoy and good luck.

Congrats, it looks very nice. I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it more once you are going off-road ;)

I suggest changing the tires with some nice AT's (I like and recommend Nitto). Perhaps a brush guard would be a good option too (not sure if a G-Wagon 460/461 would fit since the Wolf is a "special developed" vehicle for the military), so you can mount some extra lights and a winch.

If not mistaken that's the same motor as in my 240D, or very similar. My euro model 240D has a different injection pump than the ones imported to U.S. retail markets. It boosts the HP a bit, although I still drive it like I stole it. You might check into that pump. If you don't have paperwork on when the valves were last adjusted, have them done and then do them every 15K miles.

Hey Jorge,
Thanks for the recommendation I plan on keeping these tires on it until I get ready for my great adventure driving it out West to Co`s Rocky Mts for camping and non-stop photographing. I want to tow a teardrop camper trailer.I will definitely get the best tires money can buy when I`m ready to leave and I will look at those Nittos for sure.
I just hope I can tow and run highway speeds otherwise its going to be a very long and difficult trip. I plan on taking my time and driving only until I get tired maybe 6-9 hours per day. This trip is still in the planning stage since I`m still working and can't take off enough time until I retire to do it.The Wolf is just the first stage. first I`ll outfit it then when thats done, get a teardrop camper and practice camping nearby with a few short trips, to see if indeed I really still want to, then when I finally retire load up and do the big one.
