Just bought an M&P shield and looking for some holster advice. I don't have my carry permit yet but am planning to get it.
My thoughts are something that would be a clip on and outside the waist. I guess leather and a swivel clip would be preferable.
Looked on the net and the choices are about two million.
I want something that's comfortable where I can't feel it while wearing. Not interested in a inside waist carry at this time.

I picked this one up local and I love it.

I have a M&P 45. I had bought a DeSanti Speed Scabbard for it and it is a quality holster. but, I did not like the 'feel' of it when I carried. So, I bought a Blackhawk Serpa holster for it and love it.

Check K Rounds holsters. Quality kydex, nicely rounded edges so no sharp areas. Belt loops are designed to keep the holster tight against your body. After discovering this small manufacturer in Tukwila Washington years ago, I have had no other holster.

I purchased a LAG Tactical Defender at a local store today. I've worn it around the house. So far so good. I like the flexibility of switching from IWB and OWB. I am a heavy guy and I found that it hides well and is comfortable at about 4:30

I ordered a Cloak Mod owb and a 3.0 iwb from Alien gear for my Shield 45, they'll be here tomorrow, I'm excited!

Stealthgear Flex.
My favorite holster I have one for 3 different EDC's, shield 9, 9c and XDM 3.8C .45.
Pricey but once you have it on you'll see..worth every penny.
you drop it on ammo... the Holster is worth the investment (along with a nice stiff gun belt)
I tried the AlienGear "slide". Great price point I was hoping I'd like it. there is no clearance by
your index finger under the grip with a gun as small as a shield. the leather backing is too tall.
It was painful to draw. I had to send it back. too bad..the price was right.

I'm not aware of any leather clip on swiveling OWB holsters. Perhaps you should look at Fobus paddle holsters.

If you can afford $82 I suggest you go to Comp-Tac (Google it) and check out their Gladiator holster. Has a comfortable leather backing and a shell Kydex holster and uses belt loops. I have several of these (The only one they make that can't change out the Kydex holster) and they really ride comfortable and the holster causes the grip to ride close.
Here in southern Arizona this is my preferred "winter" carry with a light cover.
The do have that FBI cant.
Now, if you want a close fitting and very comfortable too check out several Yaqui style holsters. The Yaqui was my preferred holster when a detective (Ret now) in plain clothes. The
"slide-on" holsters (as opposed to any paddle) will always cause a pistol to ride closer. (Yaqui holsters are usually low priced.)
These Comp-Tac Gladiators do accomplish this. I like them for fast and easy off and on.
G'luck
Stay safe.

Try a leather pancake holster before you buy a hybrid or plastic one. I have six holsters now that I have purchased for my shield before finally finding one that is totally comfortable all day long. Look at the Daltech Force website.

Black Molded Pancake Holster - Three Slot, Two Cant Positions – Daltech Force

The one I finally like is very similar to the Daltech and their price is much less than I paid. They also have a lifetime warranty.

Thumbs up for Alien Gear, Foxx and Bravo Concealment......if you want kydex shell.

If you are looking for leather...then Milt Sparks or Lobo Leather.

Own all five brands....quality and comfort at a reasonable price level.

PS....word of advise....buy a large chest of drawers for your bedroom or basement....you will need it to hold all the holsters you are going to purchase that you don't currently know about.....

Let me know what you think of the Cloak Mod OWB. I had to flip the Alien Head around and although the holster itself was secure--I do not like the design...much to loose and away from your body. Shell was great and I bought the bracket for the mount. We'll see how it goes.
