Snub Fans

No pictures, but I recently picked up a 4" 629 pre lock for $775.00. Very fair deal to me. Thought it was a price I would have paid 5 years ago. Very happy. Now one of these days i need to take it out on our farm here and sight it in. Probably after deer season.

I'll limit my remarks to the OP's question - I have a number of 2" K frames (see my albums), I even turned a 4" M64 into a 2" K frame this past year - but it wasn't cheap when it was all said and done. He didn't ask about J frames or other brands but, even though I have such, they're none of them recent acquisitions, and that's what the OP asked about.

That said - I have a 2" Model 19 coming. I don't expect it to be expensive because it was very much broken, S&W refused to repair it, but my LGS/gunsmith couldn't bear to allow it to be broken so he's slowly but surely fixing it. A 2" Model 19 is a rare find so I'm excited about it.

However, since it was broken and rebuilt, I don't think it has collector value. Therefore, I am going to let the other gunsmith do to it some of what I had done to the customized Model 64 - relieved trigger guard, checkered backstrap, maybe an action job if it needs it, but no Cerakote or work on the stocks and no engraving. Stay tuned - another snubbie K frame is headed my way!

Glad you asked! :)

A $250 finish challenged Model 10-7 that has been doing nightstand duty for years with a set of CT laser grips on it.

The Colt is an Army Special .38.
The 10-5 looks a lot better in person. My photo fu is no good.

The Colt was already chopped when I bought it.
I got it cheap.
The Smith set me back $425, IIRC. It was unfired, after the factory test fire. I took it's virginity. It's a sweet shooter.
Don't have a pic of my 66-2 2.5"
In the picture, the 10-5 looks like the barrel is a different color than the frame. In reality, it is not.

I carried the Nickel Plate on my ankle for years as a backup gun. The blued revolver was department issue in the early to mid 80's when I was in the Detective Bureau. I bought it when the dept went to new guns. It is stamped E.P.D. The .44 is new in the box unfired and I'm guessing is well over 25 years old.

The first duty gun issued to me as a young detective back in 1972 was a Model 10 and I have had a love for them ever since. I have gone through a couple over the years and now am down to just one k-frame CCW. Some may say it is not a snub nose however for me it is a perfect k-frame carry gun. Yes it is a Model 65 and yes I carry magnum ammo in it and yes it has a 3" barrel but it is my favorite "snubbie". :)

I have to agree, as my favorite K frame is also a 3" Model 65!

Back in the mid to late 80's PPC was still popular and the M&P 38 was the gun to build one on. I bet I have bought dozens of them, including snubbies for $75-$100 to ship to builders like Clark to build PPC guns out of.

Of course back then I had about three dozen pre and post war Heavy Duties I couldn't give away. Same goes for Model 58's

OK, here's one of my favorite snubbies: a modified 25-2 in 45acp. Left the factory in Oct. 1974. Conversion is possibly an early Austin Behlert but is unmarked. The hammer has been rounded; the trigger smoothed and thinned, the grip frame converted to round butt K frame and a lock added to the crane to replace the removed ejector rod lock under the barrel and barrel shortened to 2.7". The action is as smooth as warm butter...

Bikes. . .that Lawrence chamois lined holster is so rare. When I was a kid in 1960 I ordered one. It is the only one I have ever seen in person. Let the holster go with the gun some years later. Needless to say the holster is worth much more today than the gun I bought it for.

Don't know where to start. Can only K frame Snubbies play? Well, here's a 2" post war .38 M&P which shipped April of 1949:

But I am also partial to the little guys. Here is a "Pre model 30" shipped out in August of 1954...you could call it an improved I frame .32 Hand Ejector:

How about a .22? Here's a 34-1 that I picked up this year:

Well, I was in a LGS earlier this summer, and this little cutie followed me home...a 640-1:

To be perfectly honest, I can't remember when I bought this 340 PD... But it is my most carried handgun:

All of these were purchased in 2016, (I think)...I'll be back later with some more. Just returned from a conference/seminar, not organized yet.

Best Regards, Les
