Which rim fire scope?

Gotcha. I have other upgrades I want to do and I don't want to spend $200 on a $350 rifle. Doesn't make sense to me. If I had other rifles or I did a lot of hunting then it would be justified. Even a $100 is fine. Thanks for the input.

The thing about a good scope is that we tend to keep them after we sell off or trade the current rifle and put it on another rifle.

After some research, I'm starting to see this trend. It might be worth a little more investment. Thanks for confirming.

I have a Nikon P-22 rimfire scope (2-7 X 32) on My M&P15-22. I believe they changed the name of it to P-Rimfire. It is specifically designed for 22 rimfire AR platforms. Have the BDC reticle and sighted in at 50 yards. Very nice scope - clear optics. The Nikon cantilever mounts are extra and are a little pricey.

It's funny you brought up the Nikon because I have been researching them lately. They seem to have a quality brand of scopes. My Nikon camera is still working to this day so that says a lot. I didn't know they were in the firearm market. Thanks!

Hi 32icon, glad to see you chose the 15-22. I bought mine a couple months ago when decided to add a rifle to my competition guns (up to now have only shot pistols).

Hi there. Thank you for your input. I thought about a red dot. I have one on my Victory and I like it. But since I'm going to become a member of an outdoor range I figure I might need more with magnification. Even the Bushnell TRS-25 might be an option. Thanks for your input!!!

I think I was 9 or 10 when I got my Marlin .22 single shot rifle for Christmas. I still have it! :) Still shoots good too but I got trained quick by my grandpa about shooting something I'm not going to eat. I shot a black bird out of a tree at about 50yds. He made go find it and had my grandma cook it. I had to eat it for dinner.

Hahahahahahaha. This cracked me up. Thanks for sharing!!!

some people call this KY windage but it works

Ky Wonder,

THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! The way you broke this down helped me to process it and understand exactly what you mean. No one has explained this to me before so I've been spending lots of time trying to educate myself. This was a TON of help!!! Thank you!!

One my S&W M&P AR 15- 22 I have a 1x4x Bushnell shotgun scope and it works just fine.

Simmons Whitetail Classic 1.5-5 x 28mm These go for around £120 new, £75 S/H in the UK so i'd imagine they're well under $80 in the US.

All the scope you need for 50 yards :) Just make sure you get one of the ones made in the Phillipines, rather than the Chinese version

Do you somehow have a red dot mounted on top of your scope?

The scope mount i used has small picatinny rails above each ring like this;

Quick Release 25.4mm/30mm Dual Ring Cantilever HeavyDuty Scope Mount Picatinny | eBay

I then just put a cheapy mini-red dot on top of the scope. You don't need to spend a fortune on optics for a .22 ;)

Nice Find Ben really made me laugh,i'm wondering if some parts

If you are getting glass, because you are relying on glass to shoot with, then why scrimp?

Personally i think that other than the trigger, the sight options you choose is probably the most important upgrade you can make to any rifle....if you are willing to spend $100 then why not spend a little more and get something better that you are going to be happy with...you don't need to go crazy IOR or Zeiss but the better up the price ladder you go the better glass you are going to get, the better light gathering and reticle and reliability.

For instance if you are willing to spend $100 - then why not go another $50-60 and get a Vortex Crossfire II or Diamondback, which can be had for around $ $120-160 on the bay. You get Vortex quality glass and Vortex warranty and i think everyone on here will vouch for the quality of Vortex optics.

What's that saying....'buy once, cry once'
What's that other saying 'Buy cheap, pay twice'

It's your rifle, it's your call.

Good point. I mean, I'm new to all of this and I honestly didn't truly understand the price points of scopes and their effectiveness. All I knew is what I wanted, what upgrades I potentially needed, and what I was willing to spend in total. Maybe I'll look around on ebay and see what they have for Vortex optics. Thanks man!

Icon you cannot go wrong with Vortex scopes from reasonable

Wow. That's a beauty!! I'm going to check out Vortex and see what they have. Thanks for sharing.

Keith, wait till 32icon sees the price point of your Vortex hehe

Don't worry, Vortex's 'budget' line are still better than all the $80 scopes put together.
