Apparently the Sig 320 has won the new US Pistol contract.
Army: Your new handgun will be a Sig Sauer

Sig P320 is a big improvement over a Beretta, but I thought the Glock 17 or 19 would get the nod.
Does this mean that Beretta is out?

I love my Sig P320 Carry
We used the SIG 229 (40cal) in the Military(service weapon)....had a horrible 2hr long trigger pull...I hated that thing.
Will it be a 9mm? I know they were kicking around the idea of a .40 cal.
Is it only for the Army? What about the other services?
It will be the standard 9mm NATO. Here are the numbers I got from a friend who (usually) has good first-hand info: (no guarantees)
"The award of the XM17 contract ends the 25-year service life of the M9 pistol, which is based on the Beretta 92FS. The contract has the Army buying as many as 280,000 full size pistols, plus approximately 7,000 sub-compact models. The contract also covers the purchase of another 212,000 pistols by other military services."
