WOW, I am 70

Max,when you were just four years old I was twice your age.

Now you're so close to me I can hear your footsteps.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Happy birthday Max. Growing up in the 1950s was amazing. We baby boomers thought everything was possible. Our parents and grandparents had whipped the Kaiser, defeated Hitler and destroyed the Japanese Empire. Everything was booming. There was construction going on everywhere. Houses, highways, schools, shopping malls, convenience stores, tourist courts, motels and restaurants were popping up everywhere. The latest and greatest thing in Texas was AIR CONDITIONING. Air conditioned cars, restaurants, movie theatres and homes. Back then we didn't have Homeland Security, we had CIVIL DEFENSE. My Junior High School had a fully stocked Fallout Shelter. The stuff our parents and grandparents bought Military Surplus was unbelievable. McClellan saddles for $5. Leather flying helmets for $1. A Stearman biplane (PT 17) for $250. Dodge weapons carriers (small trucks) were so cheap I can't even remember what they paid for them.

Happy Birthday. For a birthday present, you need to mark a week on the calendar in the kitchen for your return to South Dakota, so when the wife ask you can say "yep, that's the week I will be shooting pheasants this year"

Your only as old as you feel.
We had a guy at My health club that had just turned 81 and He had bought a Harley Davidson Road King for a trip to Florida.
And let me tell you that he could keep up with just about anyone at the gym.

Happy, happy birthday!
If you're like me, I'll bet you are shocked it's your 70th.
You're still a hooligan at heart, aren't you?
I'm not quite as old as you, but not far enough behind that it matters, and I don't accept the fact!
My thought is...don't die until you die!

Happy 70th birthday!! I can also relate, like so many others on this board,to that nasty invader we call cancer. Sounds like you are doing great in not letting it stop you. I had a chemo infusion today, a nice long nap, , a good supper, cleaned a couple of 1911s that really didn't need it, going to a gun show this weekend...life IS good. Happy Birthday, sir and thank you for your service!
