Hey guys n Gal's it's Si again with yet another question. I have a SD9VE I have two 16 round clips and two 10s. I'm going for my ccw tomorrow and I'm kinda forced to take this. I'm supposed to bring fifty rounds would be awesome to just load full and take my clips. Problem is ( yes I can go without full I know but nonetheless I'm asking for future reference) I have extreme difficulty to the point of using the help of a sturdy table to upend and load my 16s to capacity. Thing is when they are at capacity it does engage like it should BUT there is a 16th inch gap between mag plate and my pistols base and I can see the lead and brass showing between slide and base. Kinda makes me nervous to shoot. With the understanding you all do not rep s&w... I happen to trust the years of experience floating in these posts. So what say you? Safe.... Not safe? Normal? .... I like my hand .... Alot lol I've seen issues on here about loading and buying a loader. But nothing about this. Please help...

Yea its ok. Think about this.

If you load the mag to capacity the spring tension in the mag is compressed to its full abilities.

When you lock the mag into the gun the slide rail pushes down slightly on the entire stack of rounds.

At that point the entire spring load is pushing downward on the baseplate trying to push the mag out of the gun.

So yea, there can be a touch of gap show up on guns between the buttstock and baseplate;)

So why do you have 10's? Restricted state? Bought a restricted state gun?

Lol ty for your answer! And corrections  lol I actually just bought this gun used a few days ago. Came with the tens not sure why he had them I assumed that they came with them. Does s&w send em out with 16s?. I picked up the 16s to correct the lack of boom lol. Man they are stiff hoping time and use correct that for me..... The post about a loader has me wanting one lol. Seems alot of ppl are worked up about the poly guide rod. I don't plan on competition shooting with it. Truck n hip gun. I don't think I will have a issue with it. Do you?

Yes the gun comes with 16's. I dont know where your at so make sure you are not in a restricted State (thats what the 10's are for) You show up with a loaded 16 and you in a heap-o-trouble boy!:D

Thats one of the biggest reasons to fill in the State on your profile. So we can pass along accurate info. You in Cali? Chicago? etc etc.

Load them and leave them that way. That will work the stiffness outta the springs. A few hundred rounds will do it also. Get a MagLula UpLula loader if you are going to do any appreciable amount of shooting. You'll wonder how you ever got along without it.

Poly rod. Dont worry about it. Specially on a truck gun. Some people get a good trigger in one occasionally but for the most part you are going to want to save your money for an Apex trigger kit;)

EDIT: Oh yea...and Grice still has mags for 10 bucks ea :D

Does the CCW course even allow you to load more than 10 rounds per magazine? Just asking as certain competition games restrict the particular division to a 10rd magazine (not clip ;) capacity (such as Production in USPSA). Just check the course rules to see what they say...

Thats a good point. Mine did, but it was a private range that the instructor owned.

Lol y'all all worried about my terminology lol guess I gotta mind my p's n q's around here lol..... Very valid point I'm not sure guess I should find out it's three hours lmmfao. I appreciate it guys tyvm! Pretty stoked about getting it today! I made a previous post about some light scratches in the slide near rear sights. Y'all seem very knowledgeable. Is there any way to at homie repair this I dunno what you call it a matte type finish? Someone suggested sending slide off to have custom work done. I would really rather keep it like it is but can't seem to not stare at the little bits of scratches on the slide lol like a bug on the windshield.

Don't worry about scratches. Instead buy more ammo and practice. Scratches don't stop bad guys.

Sorry man I haven't quite figured out the forum yet I will update later today. I'm in Florida. The trigger doesn't really bother me I know it's heavy and long but if I'm in need of a gun I believe adrenaline will cancel out my issues with that lol

Trouble loading your mags fully?
Sheesh, what a wimp!
Just kidding, new springs are tight so one of the first things any semi owner needs to purchase is a Maglula UpLULA Universal Pistol Magazine Loader.
Saves so much time and wear and tear on your thumb. And easy to use not to mention quick.
Best accessory to have.

With any new mag, I like to fully load them and let 'em sit about a week.

They load just wasn't sure bout the pressure to secure it in the gun. I fully understand the difference BTW lol notta complete retard. Ty guys very much a great gun. FL requirements 1 accurate shot ... Wth is the point in that lol oh well glad to have that part wrapped up.

I always leave a magazine one short of its advertised capacity -- something I picked up years ago when they told us to put 18 in a 20 round M16 magazine to make it work better.

Initially it can be hard to get the last round in because the (new) spring is pretty stiff. But loaded to full capacity usually makes the top round push up on the slide, and as a result the magazine may be pushed down and not be seated fully.

If I had extra 10 round mags, I think I'd put them on the "for sale" listing under "classifieds" on the forum and sell them off to someone from a restricted state, and use the extra bucks to buy another 16 round magazine!
