Selling my Ruger LC9S in favor of a Shield 9mm

As the title says, I am selling my LC9s to a buddy of mine in favor of a Shield 9mm.

I love the LC9s but I am more accurate with the shield, and in my stupid home state, the shield of course comes with a 10.5 lb trigger. I opted for the non safety version of the shield as I tried working the safety, and I really didn't like it. Safety is too low profile, and was hard to use. I like to be able to actuate the safety with my thumb and I could not comfortably do it with this gun. And being that the safty is so stiff, I had to move my thumb off the grip or use my other hand to shut it off.

So yeah. I just got a brandy new Shield 9mm, and I am very happy Can't wait to get it out and break it in

Also, the $75 rebate is nice too- Granted, it may take till Christmas to get it, but even better! More gun money

I did the same thing in March (well, traded it into my LGS). How do I feel about it 5 months later? Last Friday, I bought a second Shield. The first one was the base model with 3 white sights and a thumb safety which I don't use. This one is SKU 10086 with tritium sights and no safety. Love me some Shield!

I have the original L C 9 I haven't fired the sheild. But the Lc9 has been flawless

I have never had an issue with my LC9S as far as reliability. Works great. I just have a hard time with the sights on mine- Because they are not adjustable, i feel that I need to shoot higher than I like - raising the rear sight would fix this, but the Shield seems to have better sights.

I was selling an old paint sprayer on Craigs list and a guy wanted to trade me a LC9 and some cash. I took his offer and really liked the pistol but the Shield is a superior gun overall and later sold the Ruger, mainly because it had a really LONG trigger pull.

If you think your original LC9 is a great pistol, check out Galloway Precision in NC. I sent my LC9 to them for their trigger bar shortening kit and had them install their stainless guide rod and HD recoil spring while they were working on it. The change was nothing short of AMAZING! You will cut your group sizes by more than 50%! I've since added a set of tritium night sights and carry it strong-side in a modified pancake-type OWB leather holster.
I also have Shields in 9mm and .45acp, but still prefer the LC9 in the summer months for its diminutive size in a full 9mm configuration, ease of carry, and its ability to "disappear"!

It's still going on until 9/30, but it's changed. Most states are now getting 2 mags, 2 boxes of ammo and a mag loader. CT and about 10 other states are still getting $75. I submitted my form for the $75 as soon as I got home last Friday with my new Shield.

What holster do you use for conceal on the LC9? I use a Elite Survival ballistic nylon holster size 7 and it is super comfortable, and allows the gun to sit pretty low, but it hurts when I have it on while driving in appendix carry. Maybe I need to try 3 o'clock carry, but I like having it in front of me...My revolvers are much more comfortable to carry while driving as the tend to rotate a little in the holster.

I had the LC9s Pro. I loved it. But here in central Florida's heat and humidity my sweat took a toll on the gun's finish. The Shield seems a little better in this respect. So one day while browsing the used section of my LGS I found a Shield 9 no safety priced right. The LC9s stayed and the Shield came home with me.

Agree... I have a couple pairs of dress pants with really deep pockets, and have carried my LC9s in there twice- because I had to... Wasn't wearing a tuckable holster in that case. I wouldn't recommend it- both the Smith and the Ruger are too big for easy pocket carry IMO

I have both the LC9s and the 9 shield. Both equally reliable guns. The Lc9s is ok in my pocket, the shield is just too bulky. Ruger does a very nice job of sculpting their guns for "carryability". Even though the Ruger is only a couple of ounces lighter it gets carried and the shield stays in the nightstand.

LC9s Pro is 17.2oz and S&W Shield 9 is 20.8. 3.6 oz is quite a difference in weight when carrying around the house in cotton shorts. I've shot the Shield and would have no problem carrying, but I like the Ruger better. The trigger is better on the Ruger, imho.
