Dick I think you got your pics or serials mixed up, the photo posted above is a 5 screw more likely from 1953 with a serial between K-160,000 and K-190,000

Dropped off a RIA 10mm at my gunshop 2 days to ship to it's new owner and found this in the case. They had it marked as a 15, But when I opened the crane to inspect there was no model # and then I flipped it over and saw and that extra screw on the other side! No box and obviously the grips are not original though in nice shape, as is the gun, only one real spot of bluing loss on the cylinder and the very edge of the Barrel

I've wanted one of these for a while. Serial K169220 Dates it as 1952 production. I Gave it a little cleaning yesterday, had to pull the cylinder off the yoke as it wasn't spinning nicely and cleaned some gun out of it, now its ready for a trip to the range!

Here is my Model 15-3, s/n K 905790, year 1969, 4 inch, with factory code PC stocks.

Great shooter, great gun, fits perfect into my collection of S&W's finest handguns!

Year is from SCSW 4th (maybe 3rd...can't remember and do not have my library with me), have not Lettered as I usually only Letter the real old ones, or higher value collector grade, so don't know the month for sure, but that would only be a ship date, not a manufacture date.

This Combat masterpiece was brought to our LGS my a young fellow who had inherited it.
He just wanted fast cash. They gave him $100 for it, IIRC.
Store called me to help identify it.
Was in the box with receipt and paperwork from Evaluators, Ltd. of Quantico, VA.
Dated to 1951. This one went into the store owner's collection.

acquired this S&W model 15 weapon back in '71 prior to going into police work. The owners instruction care pamphlet is marked 3-67 on the bottom of the back page. Used this weapon for security detail initially, and then for several years in police work until the department mandated the switch over to a S&W model 19 around '85. I couldn't guess how many rounds have been put through this weapon; but, it will still put the first one on the X.

Model 15-2 in Australia

Please find attached some photos of my Model 15-2. The serial number is K775071. The gun was refinished by the S&W Importer here in Sydney. I was told by the previous owner that it is meant to be Ex-LAPD. There are no markings to suggest LAPD prior ownership. I have never really looked into this further.

I purchased this Model 15-2 so I could use it to compete in the Pistol Class of a Combined Services Match shot here in Australia.

Okay, I'll play. Here are a few pictures of my K38 Combat masterpiece. It is not perfect, it is not the best, but it is all matching, and it is mine. I do not know when it was shipped, nor where. I am just happy to possess it currently. Please, feel free to add it to the data base.
