Finally dumped my PhotoBomb account and gave them a few choice words. (not that they care)

Now the dust is settled, what photo sharing site are you using?

Yes, to the "hall monitors, not mods" I am sure this is posted before, but everything on the web has been also. (I have a hall pass):)

Thanks

I post pictures from my computer, no other sight is needed. Check your settings
That's what I do too. I've even gone back and replaced PB links with uploaded attachments in some of the old threads. I did leave the images stored in PB intact, but I no longer upload images there.

This has been mentioned before, but there are various free apps that allow you to see the blocked images, which resurrects threads that were ravaged by their absurd policy changes.

Here's a link to get an app for Chrome (from the Chrome Store): Photobucket Embed Fix

Yes, I know how to link images attachments on this site.

More for BIG pictures in definition:)

Somebody enlighten me...what is the deal with these photo sites that everyone is talking about? Photobucket...which I see a lot of on the forums, usually with no photo there though. I’ve never used any of them or had a use I guess. Why is it a big deal? Can’t you just upload photos straight from the computer, table, phone etc? School me please.

Photobucket recently started charging account holders for linking their pics on third party sites like this one and others. Basically, if your photos are hosted by Photobucket, and you share your images elsewhere, you have to pay Photobucket for a higher tier membership or your pics will not display on whatever site you're sharing them on. This is the reason people are trying to find other image hosts and thus......dumping Photobucket.

At the most basic level, which is what you seem to be asking, a hosting site is a place on the internet that stores your pictures and allows you to post them on forums and such by inserting a link to your picture.

The problem (and the reason I do not use one) is that the continued availability of your pictures depends on the whims and reliability of the hosting site you selected. As the recent Photobucket disaster showed, that can be all bad.

Attaching your photos directly to your posts avoids the middle man. It does have limitations: five photos per post, pictures not embedded in the text (which I prefer, as it restrains those folks who don’t know how to edit a reply with quote), and you have to click on the thumbnails to see full size photos. But the pictures remain as long as the forum exists.

I have a Zenfolio account. I set it up when I was taking pictures of sports while my son was in high school.. I needed a place to share with parents all over the state. It also has a feature which allows prints to be ordered and sent directly to the purchaser. I set that feature to 0 markup and it is a very good deal. You can even assemble albums of photos but those are a bit expensive.

I usually post a thumbnail directly from my computer. For times I want a larger pic, I use FLICKR. Its free, and works well. It also allows others to follow a link back to your photo stream on the site. Some like that, some don't. Does not bother me, as I have nothing on the site I want to hide, and there is a setting on FLICKR that allows you to mark pics as private if you desire.

After the PB adverse action, I downloaded all my pix stored there and loaded them on IMGUR (very simple to do). It seems to work fine so far for me. I kept all my pictures loaded on PB in place. Note the previous mention about the add-ons (free) from the various browsers (Chrome, Opera, Firefox) that allow you to see blocked PB pictures which were earlier posted on various websites. These add-ons work just fine and allow you to see earlier postings like always before PB imposed its ban on third-party postings..

When all of the Photobucket mess started, and my pictures suddenly disappeared from this site, I took my friend RustyT's advice and went with imgbb.com

Fast, easy, and a good size. It took a couple of tries to figure out which of the "embed codes" to select to paste into my posts -- hint: the one that ends in [/img] -- but now it's easy-peasy.

Thanks again, Rusty!:)
