What's the extra attachment in the left side? I see that on a few holsters which look a little different but I'm sure are the same purpose.

The belt presses against it forcing the grip in closer to the body aiding concealment.

It's called a Claw. As mentioned, it rides inside the waistband behind the belt. When carrying AIWB the belt is curving back toward the hip, so the holster rotates the grip of the gun closer to the body. Improves concealment by reducing printing of the grip. Excellent addition.

I have been surprised with the guns and carry methods mentioned in this thread.

Being an M&P semi-auto forum I thought the results would be skewed toward M&P semi-autos. Has this thread been cross-posted to a revolver forum? The wide variety of guns other than M&P's strikes me as a little strange.

I have carried concealed for 25 years and only recall speaking to two guys who still carry revolvers as a primary sidearm. I don't know anyone who pocket carries.

When I looked at single stack, thin, compact 9mm, I tried the SW Shield, the Walther PPS M2, a Walther CCP, Springfield XD and the Glock 43. In my test firing, the PPS came out on top as far as feel in my hand, accuracy for me, time to target, etc. Plus it can run an 8 rd ma for 8+1 (Though I usually use the 7 rd mag). M&P Shield came in 2nd overall.

Winter like this I'll pocket carry the PPS in a sticky holster. I also pocket carry a little Taurus TCP 380 acp in wallet holster, during summer months when it's just shorts and shirt.

I still have my S&W 686 revolver, M&P full size 9mm an M&P AR :D
