I wish S&W would introduce a new M25 and or M625 with 4" barrels. I know they ran the Mountain Guns for a while and they are great, but I want a gun with the heavy 4" barrel. They have the M629 4"...just make them with bigger holes.:)......and maybe blued too.

I have a 25-5 and its a great gun. I just would like to have a new one.

YOU HAVE DRAWN MY INTEREST, DAN. WHAT DOES YOUR CURRENT 25-5 LACK, THAT YOU HOPE TO GAIN WITH "a new one" ? ? ?

PERHAPS A PIC OF YOUR CURRENT 25-5, WOULD ILLUSTRATE YOUR POINT.....

WHILE I DO ADMIRE THE LOOKS OF A FULL LUG, 4", N FRAME, LIKE MY MODEL OF 1989, IN .45 ACP--I MUST ADMIT THAT MY MOUNTAIN GUN, IN .45 COLT, PICTURED BELOW, IS A BIT LESS NOSE HEAVY, AND BALANCES BETTER, IMHO.....

My 25-5 doesn't lack anything. I am aware of the 25-9, and they won't be more accurate than my -5. (Mine has proper sized throats and shoots very well.) The reason I wish for a "new" one is to have a spare that is affordable. As the 25-9 is mentioned, they are scarce as unicorns and very pricey when found. Like them or not, the new guns with all the things everyone hates are less expensive and easy to find. I would like a back up to my current 25 and would like them to be available to all that want one. I sure wouldn't trade my old for new, but the new guns have a few features that I like.

Its real easy to come up with a current M629 4". I just wish the 45 Colt was there as a choice also. Great looking Mountain Gun Joe. They aren't on every street corner either.

AAAAH, I HEAR YA, Big Muddy, AND NOW I FULLY UNDERSTAND.....

I BECAME ENAMORED OF MOUNTAIN GUNS, AFTER PURCHASING MY FIRST ONE, A USED, 686+, THAT HAD JUST BEEN PUT IN THE DISPLAY CASE AT MY LGS. MY SECOND ONE, THE 625, WAS PURCHASED USED, FROM A FRIEND.....

NOW I BEGAN TO ITCH FOR A 629 MG. MIRRORING YOUR EXPERIENCE, I FOUND THAT A NEW ONE, WAS CHEAPER, AND MORE READILY AVAILABLE, THAN A CLEAN USED ONE. I SIMPLY ORDERED A NEW ONE.....

IT SEEMED TO BE ACCURATE, AND THE TRIGGER WAS OK---BUT, WHEN I LINED IT UP IN A ROW, BETWEEN MY OTHER TWO MGs, IT STUCK OUT LIKE AN UGLY, SORE THUMB.....

I SOLD IT AT A LOSS, AND PURCHASED A CLEAN, USED, BUT MORE EXPENSIVE 629MG ON GB. ITS PICTURED BELOW, IN THE CENTER OF THE ROW......
