My actual sales order/invoice? (the attachment you download from their order confirmation e-mail) says: "*No payment captured. Item currently backordered. de". In the e-mails we exchanged before I ordered I was told they planned to start shipping mid Feb. One loooong month from now.

Maybe not what you wanted to hear but I hope it helps.

Seeing as though this will be a long haul for us this side of the pond, import licences and such, it will be closer to 6-12 months before they arrive over here, plus the obligatory price hike. (speaking of which what did they not charge your CC to the amount of?)

I will be expecting a detailed review with sexy pics after you have installed and tried it out ;) Whet my appetite. :D
 
I had read your post before placing my order and was fully (and still am) expecting a back order situation. It very well may be wishful thinking on my part that they will ship soon. However I was just stating that I didn't get the back order notice on any of the correspondence and they did fully charge my card.

I will report back if and when I get a notice of shipping.

Interesting. My CC was showing a $346 "pending" charge which isn't there now. They had said I wouldn't be charged until the barrel ships and the invoice reflects that.
FWIW I did specify i wanted a "sport" chamber.
 
Will do Ghost. I just installed the new aluminum fore grip from tacticool22 and a gazelle 3G trigger. I am anxious to have the whole combo together with the new barrel. There do seem to be a few pics up on the VQ website that I don't recall being there a few days ago.

Tomcat, I didn't know you could request a specific chamber. Do you know what the standard chamber they supply?

Also does anyone know what diameter these barrels are?

I'm assuming it's like their other barrels and it's a match chamber and you can specify you want a sport chamber. They seem to kinda keep that a secret. It's also THEIR "proprietary" sport chamber and not as big as what is usually called a sport chamber.

I called and asked after ordering the barrel and was told the barrel is .750" OD.

What is the difference between the match and sport, in real terms?

Bigger diameter. Easier for rds to chamber and they get free of the chamber easier so they eject more vigorously. The sport chamber makes for a less finicky more reliable gun. It's what you want for things like rimfire challenge, steel challenge, bowling pins etc.

So the match chamber is more tight fitting and harder to eject, for more deliberate accurate, slow firing?

Is this barrel going to be a big difference accuracy wise? more so with a match chamber? would a sport chamber offer less accuracy but more reliability? Learning new stuff here....I'm all spongy ;)

Good grief... my first thought is "gimme a break!!!".

But then... If you want to shoot expensive match ammo for bench rested groups the match chamber with the ammo it likes best should give best accuracy. Will it in a polymer gun? I dunno.

What I do know is I have (pistols) Ruger 22/45 Lites and and 2 VQ Scorpions. The VQ's are a 6" with a match chamber and a 4 1/2" with a sport chamber. I started shooting the pistol part of rimfire challenge with the Rugers and have switched to the 4 1/2" VQ.

The Rugers have the biggest chamber. They also shoot the worst. With the ammo I usually shoot I'm not sure I can find an accuracy difference between the sport and match chambered VQ LLV (Scorpion) uppers. I can tell a difference in how they run. I have to run different recoil springs to get reliable function. The Rugers with their looser chambers get the stiffest recoil springs. The sport chambered VQ a step lighter and the match chambered VQ upper gets one a further step lighter. You walk a fine line on the pistols getting their bolts to run full cycle distance but not beating up the bolt stop and frame. The tighter chambers are more finicky. If I wanted to use the 6" match chambered VQ upper for speed shooting like steel matches I'd ream the chamber.

How will the trick 15-22 VQ barrel work? We'll see. I certainly expect they'll shoot better but their lighter weight was what I'm after.

Well I am back on here again after a year or two (former photoracer but can't use that now as my email has changed).
I actually ordered the new CF barrel from Scott about the middle of last month. I think the ordering info was on their Facebook account and was put there my one of my fellow competitors/gunsmiths who is also a member of the Rimfire Raceguns forum on Facebook. They don't have a confirmed shipping date as of yet but at least I do have a confirmed order. Been shooting my race 10/22s in RC and SC almost 100% except for the PSA Rimfire Shootout which requires mag changes and no 10/22 can beat a 15-22 in the area of fast mag changes. The VQ barrel kit comes complete with a set of Tacticool22's barrel tools as part of the package also (and you can't delete it either if you are like me and already have them). Barrel price is about $336 which is in the same ballpark as other VQ CF barrels like the VQ Ultralite on my 10/22.
My 15-22 already has a Taccom CF handguard and a Magpul Fixed Carbine stock to reduce weight.

I have one on order too. Anyone have any idea of how we will install these without crushing the Carbon fiber shroud? Maybe the CF is strong enough to be clamped in a vise without harm? Anyway, I'm sure they will come with instructions.

If you have never taken the front of the upper off, here is a short version. The handguard is held in by kind of nut way down inside the handguard that is actually the barrel nut also. That is what the Tacticool22 tool is for and the kit should come with a pair of aluminum vise plates for your vise. Slide the tool in and then clamp the end of the barrel and turn the tool to loosen everything. Should come with a replacement barrel nut but not sure as VQ may expect people just to reassemble the rifle with the stock on back on. Anyway VQ CF barrels have stainless steel ends so the vise panels should go around that fine. Reassemble and use the tool to clamp the barrel back in. If it does not include the Tacticool22 barrel nut and you want to put a different handguard on it now would be the time to buy that. It installs differently than the stock S&W barrel nut.

Ok cool so there is enough steel exposed at the end to clamp. I have taken the existing barrel off to mount a new tacticool22 aluminum hand guard. I just didn't know that the VQ barrel had some steel to grip to replace the nut. Thanks for the info. [emoji106]
