Another Marlboro, MA show today that turned out okay for poor, old TTSH.
I scored a fixed sights Model 422 in excellent shape with one magazine and factory box/papers for $225 out the door. Not too shabby.
This plugs a smallish but nagging hole in the collection. I hoped for much more, but that was my prize for the day.
Other interesting observations:
I thought I had found a big score when I spotted a Model 4506-1 tagged at $550. At first, I thought it might be an R4 version... but when I turned it over, it was marked 4506-1, so no go.
The reason it was so cheap (for an otherwise high-priced dealer)? Someone had removed (sandpapered off?) the "Smith & Wesson" laser marking from the slide.
GaryS and I both spotted a crazy high-priced Model 410S... $599.
Dealer did have a sign: 5% off to help cover the sales tax.
I was more interested in the same dealer's railed Model 3913TSW, but again the price tag was much too high: $675.
I also liked a Model 4043 which was in very good shape but no box and just one magazine. Price tag $449. I'll bet I could have got it for $400... but you know my new family rule re: 40's.
Also tempting was a Model 4013 (non-TSW) for $539 tagged price... but again, you know the TTSH family rule re: 40's.
There was also a Model 459 in really good condition with a tagged price of $579. I'm not a big 2nd Gen kind of guy, but the gun was immaculate.
A Model 4516-2 was a leftover from the last show. Tagged at $525.00, I would have bought it except that I already own a 4516-1. Still, he was willing to deal, so I haven't entirely ruled that one out.
Beyond that, all the usual suspects from the last couple shows were mostly still around with the notable exception of that PC .40 that GaryS and I both reported on previously. I forget how low the seller had dropped the price (twice!) but it was starting to get into bargain territory. I wasn't surprised to see that it finally sold.
Magazine-wise, I spotted a few marginal bargains (1006 magazine for $60, pre-ban 5900-series 14-rounder for $27, etc.) but I really wasn't magazine shopping for other than a good deal on 6900-series 10-rounders. I spotted two for $40 each, but am holding back for now pending further hints on legislative action from our moonbat statehouse.
Overall, gun dealers there reported brisk sales... a good thing. I do sense that dealers are reducing inventory... i.e., not replacing inventory at nearly the same rate as in prior years. There were also fewer gun dealers present and many more knife, scope, accessory and trinket dealers. Not sure how they were doing... but who cares?
