Are there any CS9 parts diagrams out there in internet land? I saw one you can buy on ebay. But was wondering if any websites had one. Thanks

There aren't any free ones that I know of. Numrich may have one for sale, but in general any 3rd Gen diagram should do.

I bought the one for 3rd Gen guns from Numrich, and it actually also covers 2nd Gen guns.

Are you looking for a specific part?

Just want it for informational purposes and to get me out of trouble. Thanks

Looks like the Ebay vendor is just using the generic S&W semi-auto diagram.

The generic diagram's substantially correct. Some of the smaller 9mm pistols, however, have less locking area for the barrel hood. Does the CS9 barrel hood lock into the slide, similarly to the SIG? Also, the manner of disengaging the barrel from the slide differs. Larger guns cam out of position like a Browning P35, I think. The CS9 and maybe the 908 unlock via slanted ramps on the side of the underbarrel lug, like the old Webley Self-Loading .455 Mark 1.
Incidentally, I would think that the internal draw (or trigger) bar of the S&W is superior to a design such as the Walther P-38 or Beretta 92, which has an external bar along the right side of the frame. To me, that feature would be more prone to clogging with dirt, sand, etc. Apparently the US Army tests back in the mid 1980s prove that I'm wrong.

I don't know specifically about the CS9, but all of my other 3rd Gens have a locking lug on the barrel that engages a machined cut in the top of the slide.

As far as I can remember only the Value Line 910 and maybe the 410 were redesigned without that arrangement and the barrel hood engages the rear of the slide.

I think the 908 and 915 have the lug and slot arrangement as well. I looked at one of m 457s and it definitely has that.

The lug and ramp arrangement you describe is used in all 3rd Gen guns. Keeping that area well lube on alloy framed guns is very important to reducing wear and increasing frame life.

I agree with you about the draw bar. The fact that the military did not select the 2nd Gen guns as the 1911 replacements is more likely to reflect flaws in the procurement system than flaws in the gun.

I tried to find better one online for you (I kind of pride myself on being able to find such things) but alas. If you got yourself in a jam, the good folks here can probably talk ya down though.

The CS9 lacks the locking lug on the barrel. The barrel locking on the hood and slide instead.

No matter, as the lock up is tight and the little pistol is just as accurate using the same ammo as my 39XX series guns which do have the locking lug on the barrel and corresponding cut in the top of the slide. Regards 18DAI

If there was any difference in the compacts vs sub compacts (like 3913 vs cs9) regarding accuracy...I would attribute more to smaller frame/grip, shorter sight radius, shorter barrel, than I would to barrel lockup mechanisms.
