Now THAT is some good news. Bosch is a boffo LA cop show. Highly recommended.

Great show but very hard not to watch multiple episodes in one night. The new season goes by real quick!

Yep. There is always a downside. The one plus is that they are so good I find I pick up something new when I rewatch them.

This year when I watch I will have finished reading all of the books but the last since Season 3 aired.

Now I'm worried I won't like the series as well but not too worried.

:D

Excellent. And judging by the trailer, I just read the book that this season appears to be based on. Up to now I've been playing catch-up and read the book afterward; I'm finally pulling ahead :)

That is very true. I can't tell you how many times for me it was "just one more episode" and when I looked at the clock is was 2am.
I stumbled into the series and got hooked.

Thanks for the info. Been waiting and wondering about the next season.

Wait, Amazon TV? Hope that means on Prime too.

I've been watching "The Wire", and Jimmy McNulty IS Harry Bosch.

I have read all the Bosch books as well as the ones where he is with the Lincoln Lawyer too. Is the video series as good as the books?

About as close as you can get. The author is heavily involved in the tv version. He thinks they got Bosch right; they had to make him an Iraqi vet vice a Vietnam vet.

But an hour show or a ten episode season cannot capture one of his books IMHO.

At least you will be able to recognize what book/books the tv show came from.

Season 4 starts April 13th on Amazon TV. Don't miss it.

Yeah, cant wait.
Have been reading the books but the show is something else.We watched the trailer for the new series. And I just finished reading the book that the new season is based. Wonderful, Spring and Bosch in the same month.

Connelly just makes great reading with the gritty atmosphere and tight, but complex story-telling. He does for L.A. police and crime from the 1980s on what James Elroy did for the 1940s and 1950s. Having been an Elroy fan for a long time, I'm surprised I didn't discover Connelly sooner.

The storylines of the TV seasons so far followed the books, but loosely enough that I still enjoyed the books even after having seen the show. Now, I'm looking forward to see how it works the other way around.

It took me a few minutes to get settled with the actor. He didn't look like Harry to me. It was a little awkward to get the "tunnel rat" identity in with his having served in Irag and later in Afghanistan (after 9/11) rather than Vietnam. But only a few minutes, because the acting is top notch.

Have you read Walter Mosley's Easy Rawlins series? LA, late 40s, 50s, black investigator protagonist. Very atmospheric, good reading.
