MY GARDEN IS PROTECTED !

papillons are beautiful.
i was brushing a kit. drifter thot i was attacking it, even tho she gets brushed every day.
she actually scratched me on purpose.
she is now hiding somewhere.
i threw the brush at her, but would do more if i see her.
Next time let drifter sniff the brush first so she remembers what it's for ( leave some of her fur in it) Does she still groom them? Maybe she wants to keep that job for her?

nah, i had just finished brushing drifter when i started brushing the kit.
if the kits weren't here, i'd toss the wretch out for a few days.

guys, you can grow figs up into canada.
it gets down to zero here, so i wrap them in winter.
if it gets much colder than that, people grow them in big pots n put them in the garage for winter.
i'll have cuttings available free for people who want to start them.
don't pay ebay prices.
mine are hardy n good for cold weather n i gotta prune the trees anyway.

Sounds great just let us know when they're ready. I have a big pot to winter them over in the porch room then out into the garden next spring [emoji271][emoji263]

YOW! FREE CATS ARE EXPENSIVE !
To fix a male, it's $63 plus $40.30 for shots
for a girl, it's $102, plus $40.30 for shots
i could get a pretty good horse for what this bunch will cost.

i'm hoping some decide to be outside cats, at no cost.

right now, i'm training to keep them in at night.
they were out all day but at 5:30, i gave the supper call n they came in.
i've been shouting SUPPERTIME every time they get fed, so they know what it means.

they have full tummies n i bet they will sleep all night.

If any will be outside cats, they need neutering and shots even more! Shots keep them alive if they get scratches or bites in a fight and neutering prevents unnecessary pregnancies. Outside cats without shots and neutering live an average of 5 years. Those that have that vet care double their lives. Keep them mostly in the garden wall and triple their lives. And shots need to be on schedule. Find out if heartworm is prevalent in your area and treat that too. Horses won't protect your fig trees! Kits will [emoji3] That being said, I love horses too [emoji206][emoji237] And I don't want to forget to add, you're a great cat Mama[emoji192][emoji250]

yay!
i've cut my work to a manageble level.
i toss these guys out right after breakfast.
[actually, i shout OUTSIDE n jump back to avoid getting trampled]
then, i call them back at suppertime.
they use my garden for their potty.
except for natayo, who holds it til she can get to her litter box.

i was letting them out for only a coupe hours when i was out, but now i know drifter will not leave the garden if the kits are out but i'm not.
she can n will protect them better than i can, so they are safe.
drifter only goes hunting when i come out.
i seem to be trusted with child care.

frankly, 8 hours is the minimum time.
they won't come in if they aren't hungry n i could never catch all of them.
i'm pleased to see kits can learn words at 9 weeks.
they know SUPPER, because i shout that every time i feed them, even if they are standing right there.
now, they know OUTSIDE, after only a few days.
or, they just know something interesting will happen when i shout.
they all gallop right to me when i scream.
this might be handy if i see a mouse.

They are smart because they have a smart Mama (drifter) and a smart human Mama (you!) Happy Easter. Do you have a lot of bunnies out there yet? I don't see the bunnies here, but I have found clumps of hair around the deck... Maybe they are underneath. My porch room is over part of the deck and Logan and Jackson sniff the floor in that room excitedly when they go in there. Papillons have exquisite sense of smell. If they were bigger, they'd be better trackers than blood hounds. Logan did well yesterday on the treadmill at PT. Then I woke up today and he was covered in $h**. He must have had to go and didn't outside earlier. I went back to sleep(5am) and placed him in his playpen. Good thing I didn't put him under the blanket on my bed like I usually have been doing lately. I woke up to a conundrum. Do I bathe his encrusted self first or clean up the mess in the pen? Stinky morning. All cleaned up now. All before my coffee...Pooh![emoji195][emoji235]

sounds like you need to increase his outside time.
how well can logan walk?
can he have fun outside?
that was sure not fun for him. once a dog is house broken, it distresses
him to go inside.
i expected to see bunnies by now, with drifter indoors so much, but i don't.
i guess stripes is still around.
it's too bad. i miss shooting them, plus drifter really likes the way they taste.
i don't know if they taste better than mice, but she prefers both to cat food.
i could have saved money if drifter showed up sooner.
evil bunnies cost me more than $300 in ornamental plants.

one of susie's "evil bunnies"....

Get a Lacy dog to protect those figs.

I never had any peaches till we brought ours home. Then no varmint was safe.

In her younger days she could snatch birds out of the air and almost literally climb trees to catch squirrels, which she left for us in the house (till she figured out Mama didn't like squirrel.)

I still wish I'd been there with a cam corder the time she deposited one in the bed.

Logan walks better on grass than anything slippery like tiles or wood. His back legs are still wobbly but he's lightning fast. Occasionally he does a handstand and gets up on his front legs. Nobody else has seen this but me and he only does it for a second or two. He did this as a puppy when the snow was a tunnel dug out of the back yard with walls up to my armpits. He used to like to back his butt up to the snow and raise up his back legs and poop onto the wall of snow. He was only a few months old then. When the snow melted in March, he didn't know where to poop.
Bunnies must taste better than mice I would guess. I never ate mice and I don't think I ever tasted rabbit although I'm usually willing to taste almost anything. Do your fig trees actually have fruit? Or are they ornamental.
I've heard rumors that we may be limited to specific quantities when we buy ammo. I bought 2x500 rd. bricks of 9mm.yesterday and I noticed the supplies were lower at the place where I go. All over, big box stores are stopping carrying guns and Walmart in town no longer carries ammo. They'll accuse us of having an"arsenal" if we buy a box of 500rd.soon. I asked the sales guy at Hoffman's about what I had heard and he hasn't heard that there might be limits. But they wouldn't announce it ahead of time would they? So think about stocking up....
Logan sure does have fun outside. He loves chasing the squirrels... He doesn't seem to care that his hind legs don't always keep up. He's very strong for a dog who's no bigger than a kitty. He did lose a lot of weight since his surgery, mostly hind leg muscle. They say he will regain it the more he walks because he's only 3 and still young. I'm giving him extra food mostly protein and he's loving it. So life is good... It's like he's being born again. Happy Easter [emoji195][emoji235]

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!
i'm glad logan is doing well. that surgery sounds chancy to me.

my figs are all fruit trees. i should get a full crop this year as most will have been in ground for 4 years this summer. it takes longer to get a crop inground than in pots. i've only been getting handfuls so far.
they have teased me. all my varieties taste different n are the best tree fruit i've ever had.
we have been cultivating figs longer than any other crop, so we have made big changes in them.
having 7 trees gives me 7 different tastes. i don't have any that just taste like figs.
jt, i can't use dogs to protect my trees.
they love figs n would eat them before i ever get any.

Mmmmm! I love figs.... In New England, how long would they have to be in a big clay pot before they produce fruit? They'd go into my heated sun room after the summer and then out again after the danger of frost is over. You should see what passes for figs here. You can't even chew them. My Nanny (grandma) used to cook them in juice and then eat them stewed. If she didn't know that I'd be eating them, she'd pour Brandy over them before putting them in the fridge to cool..PS Without the surgery, Logan never would have walked again, so it was a risk, but we were blessed with success and improvement as time goes on [emoji120][emoji120]

the reason you don't have figs to eat is they just don't ship well. you can't pick them unripe. they only ripen on the tree so they have to be eaten in 24 hours.
that's why you gotta grow your own if you don't live in cal or deep south.
in a pot, you will get figs your second summer.
in a big pot, you can get 200 figs, but you would need lots of help or machinery to move them.

Haha! I'll get a medium pot then. As much as I love figs, I couldn't eat 200 in 24 hours. Or I'd never get out of the bathroom ( lol) Looking forward to getting my cutting to plant... Just let me know a few weeks before so I know what I'll need to make them survive...( Rooting powder?) Also we have a ton of chipmunks. They're about the size of big mice and they dig everywhere.. Mostly to get under the fence. They're more of a nuisance than mice which only winter in the shed then I don't see them. The dogs do run after the chipmunks, and keep them from bothering much, when they're out playing🤣🤣

oh, my trees give all season. so, 200 figs in 2 months is what i meant.
commercial varieties are bred to yield all at once, but
worthless for the home garden.
you need to join the fig forum for good advise as to rooting.
many people get 90% success while i'm under 10%.
just don't get crazy. people pay the price of a S&W for the latest BEST cuttings, with no proof they are superior.
people end up with hundreds of trees in pots because the hobby grabs you.
i'm only interested in trees that are tough n give yummy fruit.
you gotta tell me your zone for me to send the best cuttings for you.
