Lost in Space on NetFlix

They definitely have some parenting issues.

"Stay within the perimeter" - they immediately leave when the parents are out of sight.

"Stay in the ship" - same thing.

Confronted with some scary beast on the way to a cave...seem totally unconcerned when they retrace their route the next day.

The "Don" character? Completely annoying.

This is got my attention in 1965...

First season, black and white, more serious tone...

So far, so good. I like the cast - Molly Parker from Deadwood, Toby Stephens from Black Sails, and Parker Posey as Doc Smith (better than the creepy pedo from the original).

The first two episodes were directed by Neil Marshall - he did The Descent and Dog Soldiers, and two of the best episodes of Game of Thrones.

Robbie The Robot is much better in this version, too. I'm happy his first words were "Danger, Will Robinson"!

Anyone watching the new Lost in Space remake on NetFlix?
I got mixed emotions about it, of course they changed the beginning around a bit. It now has a female Dr. Smith? Won't say no more!
Seems to be getting better as it goes? :p

Thanks for the heads-up on this. I'm three episodes in and enjoying it very much.

Much better than the cheesy original.

Also the original Will Robinson (Bill Mumy) was in the first episode. Anyone spot him?

I can watch it on Netflix because I can fast forward through the "stupid for me" stuff. Makes it bearable.

BigBill Dr Smith I still hate him to this day.
The new Dr. Smith isn't much more likeable either.

Yep,,,picked up on that right of way! ;)

Well I struggled through all 10 episodes.

As a a long time fan of Science Fiction and anything Space related, there is a reason this show is 10 episodes and on Net Flix. It's awful!

The filming and special effects are OK but nothing else.

So with the technology available for inter stellar space travel they still use corded mics in the rovers? No wireless? Their fuel is methane" ?? For the perimeter fence appears he used a piece of threaded galvanized pipe? What did he light the Magnesium with? Was that a Zippo? So did all the survivors carry a flexible wood saw or only Will to cut tree branches. The shipd 3D printer not only can make a gun but it comes loaded with ammo also? They still use powder and bullets? Maureen going up in the "weather" balloon was just too much!!

Much more but can't discuss those things here.;)

It reminded me of Gilligan's Island, with Will playing the part of Gilligan but no Mary Ann.

Until now I was always afraid of falling in a tar pit. Since I now know it's pretty easy to get out of one I just carry a pocket full of balloons.
Since watching the series, I now unplug my robot every night, I guess they're pretty sneaky.

Yep, that was the PITS!:D;)

Great secondary usage of the weather balloon. Notice how hard it was to squirm up and out but then when they got out he somehow had a backpack with gear?

I watched the rest of the episodes.
It was OK, not great, but OK.
I prefer sci-fi that is a little heavier on the science side of the equation.
This wasn't. So I rate it as just OK.

I've watched through episode 4. Can't really connect with it. I find the Mom (Molly Parker?) incredibly annoying, the hubby (Toby Stephens?) patently wimpy, the kids distressingly undisciplined and, frankly, stupid, given their environment, and Dr Smith a cardboard cut-out.I can't see where she brings any personality to the show.

I like the robot, though - if it's actually a robot. How does it manage to say "Danger, Will Robinson ..." without having spent 20 seconds learning the language?

It's not for me.
