Also front serrations added and trigger guard has been rounded in the front. Looks like the de-cocker has been upgraded too. Nice custom touches. Not a collector but I like it. As to worth, its how much do YOU like it. 645's are terrific guns in my opinon.

While modifying a gun that is primarily a collector item certainly kicks its value down the practical upgrades on this 645s are probably a wash. Along with looking out of place the Philips head screw that held the original left handed safety on would fall out unless the owner added a thread locker like locktite. S&W used to charge $100 to swap the original safety for the improved one. The added front slide serrations and extended slide stop could be handy. Original plastic stocks are inexpensive and factory checkered walnut stocks are easy to find. The customized hammer spur looks pretty good. I'd value it the same as an unmodified one in very good condition.

TNZ71s post gets my vote.

I am pretty fond of my 645 which I have lately upgraded to .45 Super. But yes the customization looks pretty well done. I might give you five bills for it if I was in the market. I do not think that I would give you much more than that.

The modifications done to that model 645 scream IPSC/USPSA competition pistol. Maybe someone just wanted a custom 645, but as a former competitor I recognize those as the popular modifications performed on competition pistols. It may have also been modified to be single action only. These modifications raise the question of just how much use has this one seen? I'd want to at least field strip it and inspect it for wear before considering a purchase. If it isn't worn out, and it has already been established that it has zero collector's value, it is only a shooter grade pistol, I'd say it might be worth $400, $500 would be pushing the limits.

Even my own Model 645, as found, had some minor mods done to it. Seems like it was a popular thing to do back then. :)

I guess I'd want to know what's been done to this gun that we can't see. Could be that a lot of money was put into it besides what is obvious. That makes setting a reasonable value range more difficult. :o The exterior cosmetics & condition look pretty good, although I don't know why the owner didn't copy the PC shop's front serrations thing... i.e., making them pretty much match the rear serrations?

It wouldn't be my thing, but almost any Model 645 is going to be worth at least $400 as others have noted. How much more than that is fair? Not enough information to say with any real certainty. :o

What's it worth? Well it's worth whatever a willing buyer (who's not a collector) will pay for it. Heck, maybe even more that the amounts discussed in this thread. After all "there's one born every minute," right? In any event, I'm not really bothered at all by all the "customization" done to an example of the pinnacle of S&W 2nd Gen Auto production. After all, that simply means one less lovely 645 hanging around. Frankly, if there were enough of these "customized" 645 pistols around, my LNIB w/tools and extra magazine still in the S&W rust resistant paper might go up even more in value. ;)
