How many of you lube all the points the manual says? A drop or a light coating? None? I tend to run mine somewhat dry, it doesn't pick up as much ****.

I always clean & lube after every range day. Once about every 3-4 months if not in regular rotation. I use Shooters Choice FP-10.

I have ballistol I use to clean with. If I wipe it off is that enough of a coating for function on the barrel, etc?

I really like the way Ballistol cleans and lubricates...but I just can't stand the smell. I wish I could, because it's really phenomenal stuff, but I just can't go it.

I clean my pistols with Break Free CLP, and then lube with Weapon Shield (which is also a CLP, but I like the way it lubes better.) On my 1911, I also use a bit of grease on the slide.

Do you oil after clp or if the thin layer enough for you?

I've been using Breakfree CLP and Lucas Oil.

I follow the owners manuals for any how-to's. Sure some of their text may have been written to cover any legal or warranty bases; but i figure the manus of the guns I own have been building them for well over 100 years and I have been in this hobby less than 7.
I do not know more than they will.

;)

I follow the owner's manual. I clean and lube with CLP. When I'm done firing at the range I immediately run a bore snake through the barrel while it's warm with clp and finish the rest of the cleaning when I get home.

IF I BUY ANY MORE OIL, I WILL HAVE TO JOIN OPEC.

"I BELIEVE" it's all in how it's used. NOT TOO MUCH is the key. IF it stains your shirt, it's too much & will be a dust/sand magnet. I put it on, then wipe "most" of it off with a cloth, leaving a thin film. The dry lube eezox gets applied more frequently on my EDC. A quart of CLP, 16 oz's of Ballistol, 3-4 tins of eezox (among others) are gonna need to be willed to someone after I'm gone.

Everything I go to the range I clean and lube with Mobil1 0w40 motor oil. Works very well light coating on all moving parts and outside of barrel since I go to the range every week to 10 days. "A clean gun is a happy gun. If you don't take care of your gun it won'the care to take care of you when your life depends on it.

My carry guns are lubed in accordance to the manuals, giving the engineers the benefit of the doubt. I do tend to use more lube on range guns. It needs to be noted that my carry guns have been shot enough for me to be confident that they will work when needed.

I use Weapon Shield as a final lube...I don't use "oil" per se, at least not on my polymer pistols. I do use Tetra gun grease on my 1911 slides.

I run a mixture of mobile one and CLP for non rail, "rubbing" surfaces

I run grease on rails

This has been good enough for me

I dont clean my pistols/rifles as much as others. I may go to the range/hunt 2-3 times before I clean and relube

I'm going to try and use the ballistol as my only lube but don't know if wiping it off and leaving that thin layer on the barrel and side is good enough? I used hoppes oil on them but would get a coating on the entire barrel, etc. I like to use a little lube as possible but don't want to damage the gun. L

If one of my carry guns has been in the safe for say a month or so it's already clean and lubed.
When I decide to carry it I'll wipe any lube off to get rid of any dust that may have collected and then lube lightly the barrel the barrel hood the rails etc.
