I am working a trade, my CZ75B SAO & a brand new Kadet 2 kit for a model 66. The guy has given me the option of either a 4" 66 no dash or a 2.5" 66-1, both with box & paperwork. I'm leaning toward the 2.5". Which would you pick?

Depends a lot on 2 things. 1st what will you use it for, carry or range work. Carry, the 2.5" and everyday shooting, the 4'. If you are just going to sell, then the 2.5" will sell quicker and for more money at least in these parts. Either one would be a good trade in my opinion

Can't tell really well, but it looks like the no dash has a SS rear sight.

I have a 66 2 1/2", so I would say the snubbie. Heck I'm ok with mine out to 15-20 yards at the range. Also as stated easier to sell if you are so inclined. If you can some how swing both, well that would simplify things. T

Well, I am the odd-ball here. I would like to collect the variations of the 66 and getting the 66-0 with both the stainless and blue sights would be a good start. But then I am not a big snubbie fan so there is that. :)

That's pretty much my thoughts. I'm not a big fan of snubbies, but I am a fan of 4" barrels. The SS sights are a bonus.

My preference is also for the snubby....

Fun to shoot at the range and reasonable size/weight for EDC.

If the 4" has the stainless rear sight it should have a greater collectors value, to some degree. But, the 2 1/2" round butt model 19/66's are small enough to carry yet feel like a real gun in your hand. If were my decision, I'd go with the 2 1/2" version.

Let us know what you decide.

If I did not already have one, I would go for the snub. Great multi purpose wheel gun.
I have a snub -1 and it shoots very well even with the short barrel. Plus they seem to be in much higher demand than the longer barreled versions.

As previously mentioned, depends on what your shooting habits are. Most of my shooting is at the range out to 25 yds. so I would select the 4". If you shoot at closer distances, either one would do. If you intend to pack all the time, then the 2" conceals better. Regardless, you can't go wrong having a 66.

Better for resale might be a understatment. I think on average the difference being somewhere in the $200-250 range when comparing the 2.5" to the 4". Availability also a big factor, most folks are reluctant to let go of the 2.5", probably in fear of not being able to find/afford another. My vote is 2.5" all day long or better a must have in both barrels if you can swing it.

If it's possible financially to do both, since you are making a trade equivalent to the cost of one, see what cash you'll need to do a one for two swap. If the guy needs a little cash and you have the ability to scrape up some cash, go for it. That's how I got a bunch of guns. The pain short term is overcome by the gain long term. If not, I prefer the 2.5 inch. Just personal preference.
