Lawman Gunned Down A Century Ago - Commemorative Nickel 29

There is always a dip stick or two that will encourage you to shot a NIB
collectors piece. Guns like that were never intended to be used. Pull the
trigger and value drops, just like driving a new car off the lot- it's new no
more. I would sell it as NIB and buy a good shooter and pocket proceeds.

I'm curious where Tomato Springs OC is/was. Grant's Guns closed their doors a few years ago.

If you are familiar with OC, Tomato Springs was where current day Bee Canyon is, near the intersection of the 133/241 toll roads, just east of the Great Park.

And yes, the closing of Grant Boys was sad. The building still looks the same, with most of the signage still up.

Been by there a hundred times, off of Portola Pkwy. I see trash trucks going in and out all the time. Thanks for the info.

I came up from Newport last week and looked to see if GB had any changes, but must have missed it. I drive a truck out of Riv Co, so I'm familiar with OC, do a lot of construction jobs there.

There is one of these recently listed for sale in my area, no belt buckle or paper work, missing the badge, selling for $1,600.
To me that's too much for a outfit that's missing some pieces.

Just an FYI: our 29-3 Robert Squires commemorative #132 has gone back into storage, to remain unfired, for the foreseeable future.

Just a bit of interesting trivia...

I had the honor of attending the swearing-in of Orange County's new Sheriff, Don Barnes, a couple of weeks ago. When I was at the Sheriff's Center and Academy, I was able to visit the Police Memorial there. I contains the names of all OC LEOs that have been killed in the line of duty listed on the wall.

I was easily able to find the Robert Squires plaque, as it was the first one on the wall.

I felt a bit of a connection to Under-Sheriff Squires at that moment.
