Okay all you smart shoppers that monitor the best deals out there, I have had a 9mm Shield for a few years now and would like to get a second one, interested in knowing who is currently offering the best price on the Shield 9mm (prefer the original version, want to avoid the 2.0 with the sharp grip texture, checked out one of those at a local store, don't like it)?

I have a 1.0 shield. I recently bought a 2.0 9c

I was concerned in the store of the aggressive 2.0 grip. I didnt like the texture too mich and figure I wojld have to sand it down some to tame it a little. But after several weeks of 100 rounds per sessiondefensive shooting class. I love the 2.0 grip. When shooting yoi dont notice it and it stays glued to your hand withiut any roughness etc.

Before you rume out the 2.0 due to the grip. You may want to rent and one first. You may be pleasantly surprised like I was how much I really liked that secure grip.

I am now contemplating adding a houge handall or possibly talon grip tape for my 1.0 shield grip.

I have purposely avoided any of the 2.0's due to that grip texture; but recently added a Hogue handall grip sleeve to my shield 1.0 (for just a tad more girth). I would assume a grip sleeve could be used on any of the 2.0 models to cover that texture if one really liked all the other features or upgrades. Though as tricky as those sleeves can be to install at times the aggressive texture may make it a bit tougher to pull a sleeve on.

Just added the above in case a 2.0 was desired and thats what was mainly available in stores or on sale right now.

I put the Talon Grips rubber textured grips on my new Shield 45 M2.0. I didn't care for the new 2.0 grip texture, either.

I hated the 2.0 grip texture when I first felt it. Immediately ruled it out. But I bought a 2.0 Compact with the great rebates and after a very short time, I do not notice the texture anymore. Gun is rock solid in my hand.

Still, I don't carry it IWB as many Shield carriers do. I've stuck the Compact unloaded into my waist and at 3 o'clock and it is very irritating against the skin.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried the new aggressive grip model, twice, at the local range, definitely don't like it, much prefer the original grip texture.

Grabagun seems to have them for $305.

If you have a reasonable LGS you might want to check for a used one. My LGSs seem to have a lot of used ones. I'm guessing a lot of the "Gotta Have The Latest" guys traded them in for the M2.0 version or the new Sig (The shield fits my hand better). While they do seem to be asking a lot for the used Shield M1.0s I haven't tried to bargain for one as I'm not in need of one. Seems to me a good used one should be no more than $250.

I have a Shield 9mm M1.0 and I'm perfectly satisfied with it in most every way, capacity, trigger, feel, accuracy, and etc. I think it's pretty much a perfect gun for the category it fills. My only complaint is the sights are ridiculously tight in the dovetails.

I have a 1.0. The gun is only about 1 inch in width. Slip a Hogue grip on it and you'll love the way it feels in the palm of your hand. Might take a lil work to get it on a 2.0...but you can do it. Heating the Hogue Grip up in hot water makes it more pliable and it will stretch easier.

Find the best deal you can on the 2.0 and enjoy the upgrades, then with the money you saved, spend $18 on a Talon rubber grip. That combination will give you the best of it all.

As to your question, around here the Gun Shop had them around $349. Not sure where their prices are right now.

I tried the Hogue and just could not get it on my Shield M.2, even after boiling water. However the Pachmayr slip on solves the texture problem and is much more manageable. Less expensive too.

A girl put mine on. No matter which one you get...you'll love the way the gun feels in your hand...those molded in finger grips are great and they give an added thickness to the gun (and supposedly take away some perceived recoil)... I tried the Talon tape...but the molded grips give a better feel, and grip on the gun. But he's looking for the best price and prefers a 1.0 over a 2.0 because of stippling....the 2.0 has a better trigger feel...and the reason why is a more rounded striker block which took away the gritty feel of the 1.0...and it has the serrations cut into the front of the slide...which you'll probably never use...and full stippling. I would get the 1.0 (cheaper) and install a better trigger...The Apex Special Duty kit comes with a more rounded striker block...the Hyve kit does not. But Apex also sells the rounded striker block separate which is what I'll eventually install when I add TFO sights. JMO I would get the 1.0 at the $249 (very good price) and add the Apex Special Duty kit when you can afford it. But that's just my opinion so don't blast me! The 1.0 is a very good concealable gun...add a few improvements and it becomes a great small gun! It's like another part of my anatomy that I can't keep my hands off of...well almost.
