How about a 58 with Combats! I bought these grips but I haven't decided what they're going to go on yet

I have a 58 , wearing a set of PC Magna's . I load from mild to wild and have no problem with the grips " smacking " my hand and being uncomfortable . If you're shooting it like you would a semi auto , arms locked like boards in front of you and your looking barely out the top of your eyes , then your stance is wrong for revolvers . Stand up straight , facing the target , make an isosceles triangle with your arms . Have a slight bend in your elbows so the recoil comes back through your arms , shoulders and into your body . Recoil will not be a problem . Regards, Paul

Top is the newest 58 to the family above its younger. Picked up for a steal at $599 on GB, the pics made it look worse then it was. All the numbers match to include numbered grips. The serial number dates to my birth year. Can't wait to shoot her! Any chance anyone has similar initials stamped on theirs? Got a chance to take the newest 58 to the indoor range. Only had 18 jacketed 220s loaded but she did just as I had hoped!

Mine has a target hammer and trigger too. That's the only other one I've seen like that
Well then, here is another 58 with the TH and TT. Bought it new in 79 from a police distributor that I worked for part time. I carried the revolver as a duty weapon into the mid 80’s. I did not care for the TH TT on a duty gun, so I swapped out those for a standard trigger and hammer. The hammer I despurred, and the trigger I ground off the corners on the face of the trigger. I put the original parts and stocks back on the gun a few years ago. I carried the 58 in a Bianchi break front holster. The ammo is a box I bought along with the 58.

Added two LEO Model 58's to the stable!
Thanks to a very generous forum member, I have had the very good fortune to add two more Model 58's to the stable.
I got an all original SAPD 58 in blue - San Antonio is my adopted hometown, and where I spend a whole lot of my time. The finish has typical holster wear that you would expect for a LEO gun and the mechanics are good as new.
The second gun was a total surprise, it is a San Francisco PD 58. It has been Armoralloyed and had a red insert added to the front sight, but it has some fairly extensive history after SFPD. As soon as I have the history down in writing (and permission to share) I will take some photos and give it it's own thread.
I know how you guys all LOVE pics, but the camera battery was dead and I wasn't going to mess with posting cell phone pics.....I will add them to the thread once I get a free minute.

I came across this EFFECTOR marked model 58 and just had to take a chance. Hopefully, it will land at my FFL this week. It looks to have been hard chromed and round-butted.
The stocks are a mystery, but maybe someone here has seen something like them before. They have features similar to Farrant and Hurst, but I have not seen the Fleur de lis before. Any guesses?

I think the 58 looks better with a round butt....it is too bad that S&W didn't have round butt N-frame guns when the 58 was made.... Would have fit smaller hands better.
Another that would have benefited from a round butt is the 3.5" 27...

Scott, great score on the Effector. You don’t see those everyday. IMO, the epitome of a modified 58. “Bullet proof” finish, RB config. Get you a bucket full of rounds and shoot that bad boy.

Iskra - I think that you have told the story on that one before, or maybe there is another one somewhere. Would you recount how that 58 came to be?
Mine has a target hammer and trigger too. That's the only other one I've seen like that
I've got one with TH, TT, and TS. I doubt it left the factory that way because I have the box and the end label doesn't have checkmarks inside the little boxes for those options.
