Haven't even been thinking of buying anything else, let alone a compact model. But was in the LGS yesterday and they had a LNIB 9c with box/case and all accessories. Doesn't look like the pistol had ever been fired, the magazines don't appear to have been loaded or used. Took picture of the label, since I put it on layaway. SKU 209004 Date of Mfg. 11-19-13 Ser #DYE6155.

The ONLY thing I didn't like, was it has the magazine disconnect; none of my other M&P's have this. Otherwise, the gun was as new and priced at $325.00. So, Merry Christmas to me, LOL :D

Any comments or info. appreciated. This may become my new CCW, will have to see how reliable/dependable it is.

Congratulations,
I Love my 9C, mine does not have the magazine disconnect but I have the safeties on mine. I carry mine daily.

Got a full size M&P 9mm last year ; used in the same condition for $300..... with the 2.0s coming out the shop just wanted to move it and knew they couldn't get $$$s close to what a new 2.0 was selling for.

Mag disconnect is easy to remove. Check out some YT vids.

The nice thing about it is that it does not have the warning on the slide about firing without a magazine.

Got the 9c out of layaway last Friday and had a chance to shoot it yesterday (Wednesday) at the indoor range. 120 rounds total (50 Blazer Brass 124 gr FMJ and 70 rounds REM UMC 124 gr. FMJ). Had 1 Fail to Feed on the REM, otherwise no other issues functioning. Accuracy was spot on, but front sight needs a slight adjustment-left of center in dovetail and gun was shooting just right of center.

As a bonus, I was able to buy 5 brand new S&W 12 round mags w/finger rest @ $5.95 each from the 44mag website! So I have a total of 7 mags. Had already bought 2 leather holsters, a
bianchi Remedy and a DeSantis Model 086L, now I just need a mag pouch/carrier.

I've been carrying a Gen1 Shield 9mm for the past few years, once I see there are no issues with the 9c; I'll add it to my CCW rotation. So far, I'm very happy with my purchase, but I will finally have to open that new Uplula to load the mags lol.

Enjoy it. I think I've been carrying my 9c for about 2 1/2 years now in an IWB Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.0. Probably put around 2000 rounds thru it. Fired several different brands of ammo without a single failure. I carry Federal HST 147gr. But I'll be switching to Speer Gold Dot 124gr.

Some of the EARLY 9c guns had a weak magazine catch. I called S&W they sent me a new one and it has been 100% ever since.
Geoff
Who notes it was a very early model bought at a factory sale.

I really, really like my 9c. I have some of the 12 mags, a couple of them w/ a +2 extender, and recently a 15 mag from the Gen 2 compact. I find I am usually using the 15 mag but like that I can drop down in size when needed for better concealment.

you want a comment? ok....just bought a 40c for myself for Christmas. used, gen 1. 249 out the door.

will probably add a 9c to the stables in the immediate future,

so, My comment is, "Good For you! great choice!"

If I found a deal like that on a 40c, I'd have to buy it!
Already owning 3 FS M&P's and all 3 Shields; never thought about buying any of the compacts. Now that I've got the 9c, guess I'll be on the look out for the 40c and 45c. Might as well have them all :D

New To Me 9c

Personally I like the magazine disconnect feature, wish all semi autos’ had them. I’ve never had a problem with either, but neophytes are all going auto. Revolvers are safer, cylinder open there’s not much danger of an a.d. NOTHING can replace safe gun handling. As an aside, I was at the range one day and saw a pistol box on a bench. No one around. Opened it and it contained a new Springfield XD 40 caliber! Lucky for him or her the original sales receipt was in the box. It was from my LGS and I returned it there. They had his phone number and he came and got it. You never know!

I have 3 M&P 9c pistols, one I installed the Apex polymer trigger and Apex duty action carry kit and this one has no safety. The other 2 pistols have the external safeties and internals have been polished but not changed.
I don't care for S&W's jointed, hinged trigger but I shoot them just the same. I would have thought by now S&W would have changed the trigger design on the M&P Polymer line but they haven't. I much prefer the Apex design trigger. I'll probably catch flack for saying that, but it is what it is.

see, I have all the fullsizers, but, the shields are far too small for the bear paws I call hands. saw this compact, and, it really scratched my itch. next will be a 9c, then eventually a 45c.

I was going to go shield, until I held one. just too small for me.

Get the Hogue beaver tail grip for the Shield. Makes it feel like a totally different gun. I stayed away from the Shields because the grip felt too narrow/thin. Saw the Hogue grip, bought a Shield and it's now a nice feeling gun.

Had a Shield 9mm and for whatever reason I didn't shoot it well at all.
Picked up a 40c and I am much more accurate with it. It does have the magazine disconnect which I am ok with. No thumb safety. I'm on the fence about an APEX kit.

Get the Apex FSS flat trigger kit. It will make it a much, much better shooter. It is as close to a tuned 1911 trigger as you can get with a striker fired gun. Much worth the $150 it cost.

I've found my 9C to totally reliable and very dependable. I don't think you'll be disappointed with your New to you Christmas present. How does that statement go? "Shoot it like you stole it and don't baby it". Congrats

I love my 9c and carry it daily.
Agreed. I'm just more comfortable with the 9C than my Gen 1 Shield.

Also agree about the Hogue Beaver Tail Grip as I put it on my Gen 1 Shield. Funny thing is,the Hogue make it about the same width as the 9C.

And totally agree with this also. I have to really hold the Shield rock vice solid to get decent accuracy out of it. I know it's me, but I don't have to put THAT much effort into the 9C to get the same results.

I EDC the 9C for most of the year. During the really hot summer months, I switch to the Shield. And when I'm out for an early morning run, it's the Shield all the time in ComfortTac Belly Band holster.

As I live in the Peoples Republic of Massachusetts with it's "Hey Buddy, you only need 10 round magazines to defend yourself and loved ones", I carry a spare mag in waist flashlight holder. No 12 rounders or above allowed. No one ever notices what it actually is.

I can never leave anything stock, just not my nature. As configured:
Stormlake Stainless Steel Match Grade Barrel
APEX DCAEK TRIGGER Job
APEX ALUMINUM FLAT TRIGGER RAM RESET (to give it a more positive / tactical reset.)
TRIJICON HD Rear 2 DOT Green Night Sights & Orange Outlined Front
Bravo IWB Holster w/ Nite Ize Stretch Flashlight Holster (from Home Depot)

Rear of the Bravo Holster shows how flat they make the part that goes toward your skin. My "Tactical Muffin Top" appreciates it.

Funny thing is, I never wanted a Shield until I held one at an indoor range I belonged to, they let me shoot it for free and I liked it! I've always been a Full Size kind of guy-4" 357 Mag, 5" 1911; never carried anything smaller for years. Then got into striker fired autos, SDVE series, FS M&Ps; then came the Shields-first was the 40, then the 9 and then the 45 when it came out. Now, I guess the compacts are next. :D
