Shooter 629-3 Classic

I had been considering the purchase of a 629 with the endurance package. I'd put several on my watch list on the auction site and leave them there until their prices surpassed my budget. This one sat with no bids, so I threw my hat in the ring at the opening amount of $599.

I ended up being the only bidder. I figured that I must have missed something in the listing that drove away other potential bidders. I picked it up from my FFL last night and neither of us could find anything wrong with it.

I'm surprised nobody else was interested, I do believe you're paying a fair price. From the pictures, it looks like a nice revolver but who can really tell without a close up inspection. Hope it all turns out OK, let us know the rest of the story when you receive it.

Nothing wrong with paying a fair price. It's the guys that pay crazy prices for stuff they made zillions of is what I don't understand. Especially old LEO guns that were worn out when they hit the market at prices well above trade in prices.

I picked it up last night. It has a little holster wear in the form of smooth spots on the finish. Other than that it looks great. Everything checks out mechanically.

Great deal! I would never sell my -3 for that.
How's the trigger on yours? I own a lot of Smith & Wesson revolvers old and new and my -3 has the best factory trigger I ever felt.

You got a real good deal on that Classic man, good for you! I bought one around 3 years ago and paid around $800, but mine came with box and tools too. I have well over $1000 in mine now though. I bought a gold bead patridge front sight for mine and also bought a wonderful set of Culina round to square conversion coke target stocks in Italian Olive wood for it too. If you don't care for rubber grips like myself and want a set of good looking wood grips that are still easy on the hands, bite the bullet and spend the bucks and get a set of Culina stocks.

Zipty, just in case you ever decide to scope that one make sure you save the rear sights. IIRC those are one of a kind only for that gun. That was my first 44 mag, with a few to follow. Not as pretty a finish but has a sweet trigger.
