So a post on over priced firearms. So I thought I put out a post on what those think are over rated over priced knifes. Got to tell you my price point on a knife has been $75.00 to $ 100.00 max. So I stay with. Case ( plain jane ) Bucks and Sogs. Dont see this changing any time soon for me.

I like knives. And have probably paid too much for some, but $100 for a quality knife is a bargain. I'll go just north of $200 for a folder, and up to $350 for a
good fix blade. But it had better be a really nice knife

Anything past that, I would consider a RIP off. Just not enough material or labor involved to go any higher..

I usually stick with brands like Buck, Browning and Case. Would spend up to about $75.00.
I did spend $125 for this hand made one though. ;)

In all honesty, there is really no reason to spend over $100 for a quality working knife, fixed or folder. That said, I have spent over that for more than a couple knives I really liked. But, I don't fool myself that they are two or three times better than my $100 knives in any meaningful way.

Sort of like comparing a Charter arms Bulldog .44 spl with a Triple Lock .44 spl. Both will reliably do the same thing, its just one brings a smile to your face when you handle it....

There has been a noticeable uptick in knife prices in the last two years. Whether the cause is demand or steel tariffs I have no idea. I have a $100 price limit on knives. I have yet to break the $100 limit. It's becoming a difficult rule to keep, but when I think about breaking the $100 rule I ask myself what this knife will do that my other knives will not. I have accumulated many brands, but Spyderco and Buck are the brands that have had the most pocket time with me for the last 35 years. I just keep looking for sales and special deals, and I keep finding them.

KNIVES

Some say these are over priced, others say they're worth it.

If carbon steel, my vote is worth it for being used. Collected a few that came my way down through the years, some were a gift. :) Just a couple. Add a couple Bucks, etc. :)

I like knives....have collected knives ever since I was in high school. I am retired and live a comfortable retirement I collect Case, Buck and Boker knives. I don't buy more expensive knives..... I really don't use the knives that I collect. I am sure that the more expensive knives are good......but they are not my cup of tea.

There are many good knives, folders and fixed, for $150 or less but I think you should treat yourself to at least one knife in your life that costs more.
You've done it with your guns haven't you?

I spend about $150.00 on my daily carry knives I usually buy Benchmade knives on the 2nd hand markets. They are great knives but not at there retail prices, so I look at gun show and other forms for deals.

Some knifes worth every penny , just becouse I enjoy them.

Something my Grandpa taught me over 60 years ago was the fact that a good quality knife was well worth the price. As a result, I've probably gone a little overboard because I have acquired several high quality knives. On the other hand, though, I use a knife every day.

Most of my pocket knives are Case, but a 99-year old Schrade "safety button" knife finds its way in the front pocket of my Wranglers a good majority of the time. Saw where they're going for $450 a while back. Over priced? Not a chance. The sentimental value alone on this knife is worth a heckuva lot more than that. It was a gift from a very good friend.

As for fixed blade knives, I have a few Randall knives, all of which are users.

Over priced? Randalls are actually cheap when you realize how much labor is involved. You're essentially getting a hand-forged knife for what is now the high end of production knives.
