Tyler T Grip Adaptors

BK adapters are fited for S&W revolvers only. I would have ordered one except for this fact. I was lucky, I found a NOS Tyler for my Ruger Police Service Six.

Actually, BK adapters have been available for Colt Detective Special (Colt "D") frames (both long and short) since 2016. And customers have discovered that they also fit the Colt "E" frames, as well as the large frame New Service.

Several customers also have reported that the BK adapters designed for S&W K frames are a decent fit for the Ruger Redhawk. Another customer recently reported that those designed for the Colt Detective Special fit reasonably well on his the Ruger Service Six.

I have no Ruger double action revolvers, and so have not been able to confirm or test the fit that customers have reported. But their photos look like the fit is decent if not perfect. And they haven't sent any adapters back for a refund.

In the interest of full disclosure, let me offer one word of (temporary) caution: while I do work hard to get orders out the next working day (and sometimes they go out the same day as the order arrives) I am currently working full time doing tax returns for a local accounting firm. I will be done on April 15, but until then I will not have as much time available to make adapters. In addition, sales for the last 6 months are about 35% above the same period a year earlier, and the result is that I have been experiencing occasional outages of one particular adapter or another.

Right now I am out of black J adapters and only have 1 black K adapter left. I plan to make more of each tomorrow (Sunday) so that they will be available to ship on Monday if ordered, but they will not appear on the web site until they're actually made. Sorry, but it's just hard to keep up during this particular time of the year.

Last spring, I sent in an order for two silver Tyler T Grips. My check was cashed within a week. After five weeks, I sent an email to Tyler and received a reply within minutes.
The owner was in the hospital and his son was working to get 500 ready to ship and apologized for the delay.
I received my adapters on week eight and was pleased with the results.

It's nice when a thread goes somewhat off topic and does so in a productive way. I have received some good advice , and have used it to form a plan ...

I am going to order two BK adapters based on good the reviews. I was hesitant about plastic , but they look good and seem to fit well , and the multiple tangs is a plus - as is the ready availability.
I am still interested in the Tyler product ; I will search at a gun show which will be in my neck of the woods next month.
If I find nothing at the gun show I will order a bronze adapter from Tyler. I like bronze , I have no real aversion to using money orders , and I will have to be patient. (When God was handing out patience I was at the end of the line and the supply ran out before my turn came...) Several folks stated that Tyler will come through if one waits long enough , so I'll bite.

That is my posted advice consolidation. Thanks to all for the input - and the photos. I never get tired of revolver pictures.

I ordered (2) Tyler T's for my 3" N frame .44Mags to use along with some OEM Magnas... They took about 9 weeks to get to my mailbox. One black and one Aluminum... I decided OEM Combats fit my hands the best so I'm selling both of the Tyler-T's... They are great truth be told and are all I'll run on my J frames with OEM Magna's...

I picked up two Tylers in the past 3 or 4 months.

Found 'em on GB. They arrived pretty quickly that way. ;)

Big fan of how they transform magna's to fit my hand ...

J-frame is currently on my carry piece (M36-7)
K-frame is currently on my Pre-10

I'm hoping to acquire a used M64 or M10 as a house gun in the not too distant future. When I do, I'll order a BK adapter. I hear nothing but good things about them and the four-tab mounting system.

I had a Pachmayr adapter on a 10-5 I sold a while back, and the amount of play and wobble frustrated me.

I've never owned a Tyler, but BK looks to me like the way to go.

The only Tyler I have is one on a Colt DS. I've never had it move. And in 1999 when I ordered it, it did not take overly long. It was not like a few days but I think a couple of weeks .

Totally transforms the gun. I dig the color. The BK's look cheaper to me, but I would not hesitate to buy one.

I'm more a fan of bronze Tgrips on blued Smith & Wessons with magnas due to the fact that the bronze more closely matches the Smith & Wesson Medallion in the grips, but that shiny silver looks amazing on that Colt.

Thank you. I thought it matches the medallions and the hammer.

For some reason when I ordered it I didn't like the way the glossy black looked. Cuz it didn't really look like bluing to me in the pictures I've seen. Just a glossy black. And the bronze wouldn't have matched anything.

Get the Tyler's. If you're like me you know the difference between feeling plastic and aluminum. Tyler T's feel better on your hands and if you ever decide to resell there is more of a demand for them. You'd easily get your money back.

Right now they've been delivering faster than they did years ago. They do run a small shop and they don't have online ordering.

For those who don't know the family that runs the company almost closed their doors due to a tornado that hit them about 10 yrs ago. It nearly wiped them out. And then with the political climate going on at that time, people were flooding them with more orders than they were use to receiving.

I just got off the phone with the lady at Tyler's, since it's been 8 weeks since I ordered and more than 4 weeks since they cashed the check. It turned out the order ended up getting "stuck behind" something or another. So it's now at the front of the line for when they make the black #3 the week after next.

My suggestion is that if you've been waiting for longer than the lead time that's noted on their website (currently 3-4 weeks), give them a call.

I wasn't even aware of the BK grips until this thread. I have wanted to try a grip adapter forever, but was hesitant to order the ubiquitous Tyler-T's because of the long lead times I read about. Just ordered some BK's to try out. Thanks everyone!

Have a black BK on my Cobra. Looks just as nice as the Tyler and has two clips for more security. And you know you'll get it in the same year. And the BK may be plastic, but it's a solid feeling hard polymer, not "plasticy" like the old pachmayr adapters.

I have Tyler's, BK's and a Pachmayr. The BK is on my Colt Detective Special and I've been very happy with it. But I really like the Pachmayr.

My dad's 1950 S&W M&P (pre-10) has one; unfortunately, it does not seem to fit any of my more modern K frames from the 80s and 90s

I have had, or have, Pacmyre(sp?), Mershon(sp?), Tyler and BK grip adapters. Now any gun that wears a grip adapter, wears a BK. They fit better, look better and a very secure. Plastic doesn't bother me as both the Pac and Mershon are plastic. I also usually receive them about 3-5 days post order. I have relegated all other grip adapters to the "spare parts" drawer.
