Looking for info on 629-3

I picked up a 629-3 with a ported barrel today.
Have been trying to figure out if this was a catalogue item from Smith or if was a special run maybe for Lew Horton.
It is marked with the "Performance Center " logo on the left side.
Any information would be appreciated

It is a Lew Horton, Performance Center gun known as a Mag Comp and also as a Carry Comp. If memory serves there were about 495 made over two "runs." There are several threads about them. Scarce gun that has a following.

That helps answer why I didn't find too much information in my initial search. I think I will try calling Lew Horton for a letter.
