Why not a 38 Super revolver ?

I own an S&W Model 627-4 which is an 8-shot revolver factory chambered for 38 Super. The guns were made for Bangers Distribution. The number made is unclear because Bangers doesn't care to respond to my inquiries. It is safe to suggest only a few hundred were made. They came to market about 15 years ago with hideous red, white and blue Miculek-style stocks. Another person in our area has one too. We both had trouble with sticky extraction using 38 Super ammo. However, the gun shoots beautifully with custom made 38 Short Colt ammunition which extracts easily.

I also own a custom-built 686 reamed to use 38 Super ammo with moonclips. It works quite well and I plan to use it in IDPA matches.

Virtually anything is possible if you can find a gunsmith to do it.

Wow!!!

Sort of reminds me of a article Major Nonte made many years back about modifying a 1911 to take a whole plethora of calibers..

About 13 if I remember right!. He swapped slides, barrels, and internal parts like extractors and ejectors, magazines!

I have a customized 1911 which can use any one of three barrels: 40 S&W, 10mm and/or 357 SIG. Each of these barrels were fit to the gun and work well. I must use a heavier spring to shoot 10mm though. I've had the gun for a long time and here we are in the midst of a modest comeback for the 10mm.

Were you required to wax your mustache into long pointy ends like Nonte's before you could own this? ;) Maybe that was only required for 1911s that needed multiple slides for different cartridge rims.

I gave up curling my mustache ends after dealing with Bill Laughridge a few times. His prices curled my hair!

Some marketing guy for a firearms firm is reading this thread and will suggest that his company bring out the .38 Super revolver as the "gotta have it" gun.

The firearms industry is second only to the golf equipment industry when it comes to never-ending new products you absolutely must have.

Some years ago, one of the more famous golf instructors was shilling for some monstrosity swing aid made from PVC tubing, elbows, etc. Just put the club head in the slot and let the apparatus train you for the perfect swing. It'll guarantee your PGA tour card in no time.

Read any gun magazine and you'll see no end to new rifles, pistols, scopes, holsters, etc. etc.

When's the last time you saw a TV commercial hinting that you're a loser if you don't have the latest Rawlings outfielder's glove?
