We Stand with The NRA

I've just become aware of an extreme threat that everyone who values their gun rights should be aware of. The latest issue of the NRA magazine "Shooting Illustrated" has an article on page 68 titled "Critical Update" that I think was added immediately before they went to press. It has a message from Wayne LaPierre, saying that actions taken by Andrew Cuomo (governor of New York state) will put the NRA out of business if the actions are allowed to continue. The NRA has filed a lawsuit in Federal court seeking to stop Cuomo's actions against the NRA. The NRA is requesting donations specifically to help fund this lawsuit. If this lawsuit fails, the NRA WILL be history, and soon thereafter, so will the 2nd Amendment. As LaPierre says, "This is NOT a drill".

In the meantime Ollie North has attempted to extort Wayne LaPierre into resigning, and the taint of the Russian intrigue with the NRA lingers. We need another Harlon Carter at the NRA.

Best Regards,

I responded to the most recent plea for donations to the NRA.
I hope others will do the same.
We are in for a fight, and there is no better group than the NRA to champion our cause. I have heard a lot of weak excuses from people as to why they will not join, or at least support the cause. They are all owners and collectors, and for the life of me I cannot understand why they won't spend a few bucks to protect one of our important freedoms/rights. Times are changing, and support is needed now.
Consider what we have to loose without a strong champion to protect our rights. Even if we cannot agree with everything that the NRA does, if we feel they are for the most part on the right side, lets put a few bucks where our support will have an immediate and lasting result.
Political winds are blowing in what most of us consider the wrong direction related to gun ownership. I don't think there has been a better time to support the cause.
That's my opinion. Lets not discuss, lets donate.

To sum it up, here is the final comment by CNN on a report they recently made about a supposed Ollie North ousting: Contributions to the NRA are lagging, the Times reported, and the organization is facing an increasingly well-financed opposition movement in the wake of several mass shootings

Perfection exists but it is not of this Earth. Those of you waiting for a perfect gun rights organization will wait forever. In the mean time there is only one organization with the clout needed for the fight and that clout is being seriously challenged. The time is NOW to stop freeloading, stop looking for purity and recognize that we are at a political crossroad as it relates to our gun rights. At the very least become a member. The rights you are gambling with are your own. Smarten up.

There is no organization or business in this world that has existed as long as the NRA that has not had management and financial management problems. It is up to the Board of Directors to get the situation corrected. Contact them with your concerns.

Wayne LaPierre has made mistakes during the long span of his leadership but, in my opinion, no one man has worked harder and done more to preserve our 2nd Amendment rights. It may be time for him to go but that is for the Board of Directors to decide.

This is no time to jump ship in any manner. Again, contact the Board of Directors with you opinions. Those who constantly campaign or legislate against firearms are clapping their hands with glee when they read of NRA problems. Worse than that, decrease in membership and support decreases the clout that we have in all levels of government and that is a problem. A larger problem in the fight to insure that civilian gun ownership will continue are firearm owners who do not support this battle in any manner.

Demise of the NRA would be a catastrophe for gun owners and in turn, our nation.
THINK ABOUT IT!
.

I've read the articles and looked at the stories. There are issues everywhere, but no more that I found in my previous employer.

Some serious housecleaning is needed and required, but the organization is the best we have, and killing it would not benefit any of us.

The NRA is not perfect and has over the years made some bad choices but they are still the most powerful Second Amendment organization out there. I am just a few months of 87 and have been an NRA member since my early twenties. Now a benefactor member.
I once wrote La Pierre over an issue and a board director called me directly regarding it. Both he and the NRA were wrong and I told them so. I was a match director for many years and fought them several times and understand how those who live and work in the Washington, DC area do things. Their philosophy is different than ours. It is arrogance.
No they are not perfect but hopefully when all this is wrung out the NRA will be smarter and better for it. Many large organization have been crippled when one of their own in the power seat feels he can do about what he wants without regard for right or wrong. It happens and a strong organization will come out the better for a change of leadership I pray that is so here.

BOD step up

I don't want the NRA to go away. I expect the BOD to step up and clean house and right the ship. I believe there are 36 Directors who have just been "honorary" for the most part; window dressing if you will. Time for these good people to step up and do their job. Nothing worse than directors who say: "I just didn't know what was going on"!

Am I the only one who noticed Tom Selleck quietly left the BOD a few months ago?

NRA

It seems like politicians in most cases and leaders of organizations in many cases after they have been at the helm awhile, loose focus. Their focus drifts to them personally, their compensation, on their friends that they can help, and they loose focus on what is critically important. I don’t know the intimate details here, but from a distance it seems it’s time for fresh leadership in the NRA.
I’ve been a member 35 plus years.

Fifty+ year life member so I think I have the right to say my opinion.

Yeah, they aren't perfect, and they are all we got, but something has to change if they are to continue.

We are considered by many liberals to the the source of the gun problem. Until and unless we take action to be viewed as being part of the solution, we will continue to be vilified by the press.

Confiscation, registration, etc. are obviously vile threats that need to be fought against vigorously. But some of the lesser provisions being proposed are not necessarily bad. We need to compromise.

In recent years my personal view of Wayne has been one of suspicion. Ollie's recent allegations have supported my thoughts. It's time to clean house.

I'm a retired Engineering Manager and have taken many courses and seminars on TQM and Six Sigma. The common thread is that all problems in an organization are due to bad management. In my corporate career I've found that to be 100% true.

Hoping that the NRA lives long and prospers.

Lessons from the past.

I've read the National rifleman Mag. since the late 1940s, been a NRA member for 53+ years, and a life member for 50+ years. I believe that qualifies me to voice an opinion.

There are some extremely brilliant minds opposing our 2nd amendment rights, for whatever reason. History shows us, that the finest organisation can be destroyed, by causing their leaders to fight among themselves, and That, will certainly destroy any organisation.

This is being accomplished by the opponents of the NRA, the second amendment, and consequently our gun rights, at this very moment.

I've watched this take place for a long time, I think that the damage has been done, and doubt that anything can be done about it now.

The third president of our, once great USA, foresaw this, and predicted what would happen, to deny us of our rights, when he was our President. His writings can be read on this matter, if one is interested. The things that he predicted, that will have to be done, to correct this situation, is, I believe near at hand. Now it remains to be seen, how much we value our guaranteed constitutional rights.

I hope that my opinion on this matter, already being discussed, won't get me censured.

Thanks.

Chubbo

The ACLU has filed an Amicus brief supporting the NRA position in this case. They see New York's action as a direct threat to activities protected by the First amendment.

Think how wrong New York must be for that to happen.

I applaud the ACLU for taking a position they think is right — even if unpopular with many of their supporters
