Greetings from the Midwest. Guess where?
*warning* I did not expect to write as much as I did, but I did. Rambling wall of text follows.
I found the forum by accident while searching online for a particular 3rd gen. I wound up registering after finding a gun in the WTS forum I wanted on impulse, which was not the gun I was actually looking for.
So about a year+ ago I rediscovered my love for S&W 3rd gens and started looking everywhere as they can be neigh impossible to find as you just don't see them at gunshows anymore or at most gun shops, at least in my area. I had previously owned a 4006 police buy back and a NIB 4013, but had sold them about 10 years ago when money was tight.
About a year+ ago I got it into my head I wanted a CHP 4006 after seeing Hickok45 and Sootch00 on youtube both review one that was provided by Copper Custom Armament. They have them back in stock now, but at the time they didn't so I started looking everywhere.
This was when I made my first dip into Armslist, I had heard nothing but bad things about it but I gave it a go and found a 4006 at a reasonable price and wound up buying it from a really nice guy. Since then I have purchased a number of 3rd gens online from AIM surplus and from Armslist (both pawn/gun shops and private sales). I live close to the AIM warehouse so even though I "bought" their guns online, I picked them up in person. My first true online purchase was here from @mbliss57. Other than my certified check taking too damn long to clear, the FFL transfer went off with out a hitch.
In the last year I think I've managed to gather up a pretty good collection, other than the 4006, I have stuck to 9mm, but I might look for some other 40 or even 45 models, or possibly some 2nd gen 9mm. Right now I have a 3913NL, 3953, 3954, 6904, 6906, 5906, 5946, 5926, and a 915. The only other S&W I own is a snub .38 Victory with "U.S. Property G.H.D" marked on the frame. That came to me after my grandfather died years ago, he seems to have picked it up in the 60's for a nightstand gun.
Other than the S&Ws, i own an assortment of other guns as well.
About me, I'm an Army vet, 2 tours Iraq (OIF I & II) as 11B. Didn't get a scratch on me. I have an ok job that lets me pay my bills and I can still indulge my gun hobby, and my (one) motorcycle.
