First jump into the 10mm

I REALLY tried to want a Glock! (Specifically a Glock 26)
I like their magazine systems.

But I just can't get past that blocky grip and the way it feels in my hand - the top of the trigger opening is very uncomfortable against my trigger finger and the undercut of the trigger guard is uncomfortable against my middle finger. I much prefer the M&P in my hand, which has a similar bore axis.

If M&P ever goes 10mm, that may make me get one. Otherwise I would probably lean toward a Ruger in either GP-100 or Redhawk. But I love my .357 Magnums, so a 10mm revolver doesn't really make sense to me - requiring moon clips.

One more vote for the 10mm M&P here!

My 4" 629-3 does not fit into the lock box otherwise I would never give the Glock a thought. A 5" 1911 with a mag well fits if you thread it in just right.
The 10mm M&P sounds like a good idea.

For a factory ammo comparison , Paul Harrell did a great video chronographing multiple brands of 10mm . He did a comparison to same brand in 40 . The results were very interesting . Regards, Paul

A fellow reloader I know (he owns a Re-loaded shop, with everything you can imagine in there, almost) has loved the 10mm for as long as I've know him, and way before as well. He shared a published recipe that takes the 135 gr. Nosler JHP to 1,700 fps, using 800X! I have the components, and have taken mine up to about the 1,500 fps range, and stopped about there.

I prefer the 180 gr bullet in my 1076, up around the 1,300 fps range. I can hit my 6" steel plates at 25 yards, and I have yet to fine tune any 10mm load on paper, but I will.

I'm considering taking it as my sidearm on an elk hunt this Fall. Times past it's usually the .41 mag Blackhawk, but being an old model, I'm limited to 5 rounds when I carry it. I do like the versatility of a 10mm being a reloader. :D

I had the TRP in stainless .45 and sold it after owning it a couple of years and it is the only gun I ever sold that I regret. What a wonderfully built gun. Tight! and man I could put bullets in bullet holes with that gun. I have sold some and then thought well maybe I shouldnt have let that one go but the TRP is the only one I still pine for. I dont claim to be any master shot. Like many of you I am just a dude who likes to go shooting a couple of times a month. The target is 21 rounds from the TRP at 7 yds.

Now on to 10mm. I had the Glock and hated it. The chamber in the newer version is better supported but still not great so you do get some bulge in the brass. The frame material is so flexible that the gun when firing 10mm felt like a garden hose and you could see it flexing all over the place but the worst was the Trigger. I would have been better off throwing the gun at a charging Javalina hoping to distract it because that gun and me didnt get along and accuracy was out the window. It was the Gen 4.

Bought a Rock island MS ultra in 10mm. I got the Non rail and I like commander size. Sweet shooting gun and laser beam accurate. I didnt think it was any snappier than a 45 and it was a natural pointer. Factory mags held 8rds. I think they can be had for around $550

But to date my favorite 10mm ... the Springfield XDM 4.5. I like springfields offerings and have had several XD's in several flavors but they knocked it out of the park in the plastic gun world with the XDM's. The trigger is wonderful if you like a hard break with no mush, the frame is rigid enough to give you good feedback and for quick follow up shots and for me at least .. its easy to shoot well out to the end of the indoor range. Machined beautifully and full chamber support. It eats anything I put in it. I have fired underwood 180 xtp down to the American Eagle puff pieces. My favorite target rounds if they are not mine are the Magtech/S&B 180 gr. They have enough *** to keep them interesting. Came with 2 15 rd mags. Its my walkin the desert gun.

The blue target is from the Springfield and is 30 Rounds at 15 yds. That target is one of 5 on a sheet.

I really enjoy my SA Range Officer Elite. It is accurate, very manageable, and well made. Might have reached 'favorite at the range" level.

The beauty of the Glock is how easy a dremel will custom fit it to your hand. Patients and a little skill is all it takes .

I love my 10mm. I think it's fun to reload for. I like the full power practice loads. I don't like the brass disappearing. 14.6 grains of AA#9 or 12.5 of #7 for a 180 grain bullet is a lot of fun to hang onto.

It is not a .460 or .500 SW. It is also not a .375 H&H. Think of it as a flat shooting big bore semi auto cartridge hitting harder than a .45 and about as flat as a 9mm.
