S&W Model 629-3 Range Day

S&W Model 629-3 6.5" Full Lug Barrel

Range Day between rain showers.
I haven't shot .44 Magnums in a number of years, so I couldn't locate any reloads in my ammo box but did find a 50 round green and yellow box of factory Remington 240 grain lead (medium loading) ammo.

Target used was a B-34


From a standing position I fired at 3 yards, seven yards, fifteen yards and 25 yards.

1. 3 yards - red dots (head)
2. 7 yards - orange dots (center mass)
3. 15 yards - green dots (center mass)
4. 25 yards - blue tape strips (center mass)

I bet it was hard to see the target past that big grin on your face!!!! Jimmy, you shot better at 25 than you did up close. Great job!!

That 25 yd work is good. Used to carry that Remington Lead load on duty, it was a good round. 240/1000fps and accurate. Packed it in a 29-2 4'.

OH maan , and all along I thought that only the cool kids owned S&W .44 mags and you went and threw down the gauntlet, making it Only the 3” magnum owners. Thanks for inconspicuously goading me into spending more money.

Did you find this load to be on the dirty side compared to other factory loads ?

JimmyJ yeah it was "black and gritty" but it shot well and the 29 cleaned up nicely.
