That is a good looking fixed blade.
My 15 minutes of Knife World Fame came in 2005 when the Command Staff of the Florida Highway Patrol asked me to come up with an Official Knife for the Patrol. They knew I was a knife guy after all I had showed them enough knives over the years
I worked with Beretta on this project since they were the provider of the Patrol's sidearm at that time as well as the previous issue handguns. The other reason is that Beretta also manufactured knives.
The knife I designed is of the liner lock style and I had the Florida Highway Patrol Patch laser etched on one scale and a removable pocket clip mounted on the other
The forward section of the grip is indented so the index finger can get a good hold on the knife in case of a fight
The knife blade is of the Tanto shape but half serrated to aid in rapidly cutting seat belts
Black was chosen as the finish of the knife and blade for no reason other than it looked cool

OK, truth is we used black so that the FHP patch would look better on the knife
I had Teflon washers placed between the blade and the bolsters. The pivot point of the knife does not need oil. One of these knives did two tours in Afghanistan never being oiled.
The blade is 3 7/8" long and the knife has an overall open length of 8 3/4" this was done to conform to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR). Specifically 14 CFR 108.11. I wanted to make sure these could be legally carried on US Commercial Aircraft
These knives could only be ordered from Beretta by the Florida Highway Patrol Academy or the Florida Highway Patrol store.
As a result of this collaboration, Beretta created the Law Enforcement Knife program with the Florida Highway Patrol knife as the cover photo
In 2006 the first knives were offered for sale to Troopers in the Florida Highway Patrol Store.
Beretta has since discontinued this program and these knives have not been available to the Patrol for many years
However 14 years latter, I am still carrying mine.
