I do own an FN57 and with the exception of a few malfunctions early on, once I tightened my grip as I under estimated the recoil, it has not stove piped on me at all.

However, I have read some owners had found hairline cracks on their frames and some had feeding problems that did not go away until they polished their feed ramp.

Well for a pistol that costs 1100 that is way overpriced for what you get. I don't like the fact the slide is stamped steel and the factory trigger is meh...yes it's crisp but a bit too heavy for my liking.

Anyone own one and have you had issues?

Do you mean a FN Five Seven?

I bought one after I bought a FN PS90 so that I would have something else that would shoot 5.7x28, great pistol, lots of fun, I agree that it is pricey and not for every one. I carry it once in a while in the Winter here in a Galco VHS Miami Classic, sometimes nice to have a pistol with 60 rounds on you. Never had any problems with mine, it is a newer one, 2014 or so.

The PS 90 is a lot of fun too

yes! Some of the older USG models have developed cracks near the trigger guard. Regardless if they fixed it or not the fame feels so cheaply made.

Eh, they are new age plastic fantastics like my Glocks, not for everybody. They do serve a place in my tool box. When I want to shoot classic iron, wood and steel, I will go with my S&W's and Colt's, all about variety and choice.

The Five seveN is one of the greatest combat pistols ever made.

Low recoil, armor piercing abilities, ultra flat trajectory, stunning accuracy, incredible reliability, excellent stopping power due to the high velocity ammunition, lightweight, and to top it off, the highest flush-fit magazine capacity in the industry.

In a word, it’s a perfect combat pistol. The reason it hasn’t been adopted more widely is due to cost of the gun and ammunition.

Those who “get it” and can afford the Five seveN and don’t mind the pricey ammunition (or who reload) are extremely well armed. These cracks seem like a minor issue and something I’m sure FN will address.

The older USG models were known to crack by trigger guard and the newer MKii someone on a forum said theirs also had a crack. Yes the cartridge and capacity is amazing but the frame is too cheap feeling and for that price it should have a super tough polymere frame like the MP 2.0

This forum has cost me thousands of dollars, in my quest for my home defense set up.

Some of the old hands on here cautioned about discharging a .357 in the home. They remarked about the potential for hearing loss. At the time, I only had my 686-6 for home defense. That set me on a path that led to the Five-seveN and PS90.

While I haven't had any real issues with either firearm, I discovered that the Five-seveN was NOT designed for a suppressor. I also discovered that subsonic ammunition is incredibly expensive...and won't cycle the Five-seveN.

I love the light weight, low recoil and ammo capacity. I don't like the price of the ammunition. The Federal 40 grain stuff is rumored to be junk, so be aware.

Tell me where I can get one for $1100.....everyone on the used market here in my north Texas neck of the woods wants 1200-1300 bucks....and the gun shops can’t even get them in.

Here are a couple of possibilities

Impact Guns dot com has them for $1200. Gunbroker's got lots of them, Midway USA has them too.

I have a bunch of revolvers chambered for .357, but for home defense they are all loaded with .38 Special. Cops used it for 100 years and they did OK.

Cordially,

Ashlander

I just had to send mine to FN USA because the slide lock lever was not functioning correctly. ie. if you locked slide back and inserted a 20 round mag, you could not release the slide by pulling back on it and letting go. You would have to use the slide release. A way around this was to put 19 rounds, then if you insert the slide with the slide locked back, when you did pull back on the slide it would release.

All the more reason I am finding out the FN Five Seven is too delicate and cannot be trusted as a carry gun
