I'd heard about the sign in front of the county jail, but had never saw it. Rode out a while back and took a couple pics of it.

I'd really start to worry when the "NO" portion of the sign is illuminated!
There are jails around here that really need to have the "No" part illuminated. Highly overcrowded and more miscreants added daily.

While I was Chief of Police, I had a copy of some maps made of our town prior to the reservoir. Had them framed and hung in my office. The most frequent question was who paid for them. I should have had my receipt framed and displayed with them!

Chief, as you obviously know, if you want a job done right, you just double down and do it yourself. Good on ya!

A little off topic maybe.

Back in the early '80s the Sheriff's department was struggling with being short on money. It was well publicized in the paper and on the news.

While the Sheriff was a great LEO he was a horrible politician and the city council didn't care for him which was part of the money shortage problem.

The Sheriff was madder than he!! when he saw the for sale sign my brother had put in the window of his patrol car. :D

The Sheriff didn't have anywhere near the sense of humor my brother did. LOL

Overcrowded jails are a good thing - highly overcrowded jails is great. More miserable, the better.

Until one or more inmates files federal civil rights complaints that may take years to work their way through the courts and cost the community huge amounts of money.

Some may not realize it but those in lock-up have a wide range of rights clearly defined by legal precedent and enforceable in federal courts. Jail overcrowding can easily be ruled "cruel and unusual punishment", violation of privacy rights, and failure to properly safeguard detainees from danger.

I know, I know, I know that many will respond with "the heck with prisoner rights", and it is difficult to disagree. But we have to understand what lies at the end of any road we decide to take.

A sense of humor is a good thing. It saved me from getting my butt kicked a few times back in the day. In today's world people are easily offended and litigious. Sadly.......

I think the sign is fun. It's humorous. If it "triggers" angst amongst the criminal population, too bad, so sad for you.....

DON'T DO THE CRIME IF YOU CANT DO THE TIME. I think from the great philosopher Robert Blake.....
