Saw em advertised in police rags and perhaps the Galls catalog. Don’t know of any department that fell for it. Advertising gimmick. Cool, but cheap bikes with cheap components. Kinda like Harley Davidson Beer, it’s more of a man-cave collectible.
Actually, I was the western regional sales manager when S&W came out with these bikes. They used good quality components and a lot of thought into the construction. They were built right in the plant by some very conscientious guys . The problem was that all the components were bought from outside vendors and the cost to build the bikes was too high to be profitable or competitive with other well know brands. I did sell them to several major agencies and they were all very pleased with the performance. Boeing Aircraft bought a bunch of them for their security guys and the last time I was there (2008) they indicated they still had a few. I still have my two samples and the wife and I ride them all over Idaho. They have a lot of miles on them.
