Shorty 9 production numbers confirmed! PHOTOS ADDED post #10

A MINT Shorty 9 sold on GB for $4021.87 last night, 11/27.

It was one of the 345 Shorty 9 Mark III models, the ones with the VPC prefix, and had the "Shorty 9" logo on the right front end of the slide. In my experience, these rarely come up for sale, and a mint condition model is extraordinary. (Some of these 345 don't have the logo on the front, for whatever reason.)

Still, over four grand for one of these is incredible, and another illustration of how a bidding war between determined buyers can escalate into the stratosphere above previously-perceived value.

This is the Shorty 9 that I would enjoy owning, but I'm not prepared to pay even half of what that one sold for last night.

Mine is one of the ''rare" ones without the "Shorty9" Logo...... so it must be worth even more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back at the time the "Shorty 40s" were the hot guns the .40S&W was introduced in 1993(?)..... the 9mms seemed to be almost an afterthought.
Neither of mine match up exactly to the SCS&W descriptions.
Also note the MK IIIs are listed as the guns built first in 93-94

I can see the 9mm after thought .... the in the 3rd edition I cant find anything on the single side safety... which leads me to believe MK1/2??

PC only opened in 1990 IIRC and

I had both of my Shorty's prior to 1997 and neither are "Shorty-9" marked

I saw that auction yikes. Got to admit a first gen has been my EDC for around 20 years, and competition gun for off duty matches. Cost me 600 years ago. I added a hammer, ambi d/c since Im a lefty,and took the hump out of the stocks/grips so it feels exactly like the other models.Usually has a 15 round mag with the large Precision Gun Spec adapter so uses a full size 5906 mag and holds 16. Takes a bit of patience to smooth out the backstrap, it gets pretty thin, but has never been an issue and feels great.When I retired I changed the hammer back to the original,and stippled the backstrap,since using for concealed carry all the time now.
Somewhere along the way I picked up a recon and a shorty 9 like the one sold ( the slide has turned a little plum) the one that sold looked a little plum to me also. These are such great guns really accurate for the size.
About G-19 size but a lot more gun in my opinion. Old photo of 6906 shortys. Older gun is PVC0322, Later LH 6906 compact is VPC0313and is marked Shorty 9mm.

I'm not sure what you're asking about MKII or I 1/2 ??? Like I said the letter you're waiting on probably will be the same as mine, (which is posted,) since our serial numbers are only 96 apart.

I guess I miss under stood the shorty variants I thought that MK3 meant it was the 3rd variant of the "Shorty 9"
