Are mousetraps illegal now?

(1) the term ‘animal crushing’ means actual conduct in which one or more living non-human mammals, birds, reptiles, or amphibians is purposely crushed, burned, drowned, suffocated, impaled, or otherwise subjected to serious bodily injury (as defined in section 1365 and including conduct that, if committed against a person and in the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States, would violate section 2241 or 2242);

Pardon me for not reading the proposed legislation. I doubt it would get through the Senate or be signed by the president.

Thank-you for the correction.Sorry. Doubt no more.
This became law after being signed by the President on November 25, 2019.

Woman arrested for church knife attack 'over faux fur boots' - BBC News
There is at least one enthusiastic supporter in Ohio, that stabbed a woman who babysat for a church, because of the faux fur lined boots she wore.

First: one has to ask were the consequences unintended?
Second: If what potentially could happen does happen, this shows the problem with legislation by emotion. Its the "something has to be done" mentality without thinking the issue through. BUT, behind most emotional legislation there is someone/some group who are thinking and are manipulating the legislation behind the scenes using emotion to get bills passed that otherwise would not be considered.
This is the same logic (or lack thereof) that is employed by the anti-gun groups.
...another means to accomplish gun confiscation...
...is to make everything you do a felony...
...felony parking tickets...felony jaywalking...felony spitting on the sidewalk...etc...
