Gimme,Gimme,Gimmee!

These people must go to the same school where telephone scammers learn their trade.

Do you really think that the more ragged a bum dresses the more he is believable. Homeless people don't dress that bad.

Where do they go when it's raining or freezing outside? Around here they disappear like flies after the first frost.

Do you really think that planting your butt outside a liquor store endears you in our heart?

Playing your guitar for hours only works on Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco....not outside the local market.

It's not a good idea to be seen getting dropped off by a Mercedes.

If you really need food why are you standing there with your wife and two kids drinking Big Gulps? Where is that on the food chain?

Why do you only stay there for 6-8hrs? Are you people unionized? Do you no longer need food or money when your shift is over?

I keep money in my console to give out to the omnipresent beggars at almost every intersection in Denver. (None to be found in my little town. The well-paid cops run them out.)

If your sign says you're a veteran, no money. You are either a liar or are too stupid to find the VA.

If you have a dog or kid for a prop, no money.

If you look like my dead brother (a lifelong alcoholic and drug addict), you get money.

Once that dough leaves my hand I have no concern over where it goes. Dope or booze? Have at it - I'd probably want to get drunk or high if I was in their shoes.

Organized charities? C'mon, are you kidding?

Christmas Story

In the past I volunteered to work a double shift on Christmas Day where two Officers with family could have Christmas with Their families. During the first shift I stopped at the one open convenience store to purchase a cup of coffee to help wash down my Christmas dinner (stale B&J bought from home). A young lady approached my vehicle and asked if there were any place where Her and roommate could receive free groceries as They were broke. I took Her inside the store and purchased groceries for a real Christmas dinner (including a turkey). I drove Her to her apartment and carried the groceries upstairs . At the apartment door She knocked, the door opened and I observed a lively party going on with several couples attending. The young lady took the bags of groceries from me and slammed the door in my face. Had I been a few inches closer my nose would have been broken. All I could think of to say was "Merry Christmas" as I was leaving.

Child Protective services seldom budgets for those in its care. Locally, the children in many charities have lost their parents to violent crime, addiction or prison. No fault of the kids. It is not too much to throw in a few buck to help them have a few happy holiday memories before they hit the cabarets and carwashes to grind out a living.

I didn't know that CPS had detention camps.

I certainly don't think that their intention is to keep children long term. If the parent(s) did something that egregious CPS should be looking for relatives or foster care.

'brothers watching the work with their cooler of beer'...somebody missed an impressive teachable moment. I would've picked three or four buds, eased over to that cooler and proceeded to chug all the beer..... Throwing empties on the lawn while telling them with red-eyes and suds dripping off our chins to hurry back with some more.

You'd never seen them again. Back to work whistling with a beer buzz!!!!;)

Whether CPS detention camp, a series of compensated foster homes or orphanage, I hope that it is easy to see the value of providing some pleasant holiday moments for young children with nothing through no fault of their own.

Let's try this again...

CPS does not care for these children. Their sole job is to place the children in the care of a relative or home where they can be cared for in lieu of their incarcerated parent(s).

I believe that people that foster children get a stipend from the State for each child they foster. An orphanage operates on donations and in some or most cases Government funding.

I'm surer that any monies you wish to give are greatly appreciated. My point is that CPS has nothing to do with it.

The one thing that PO's me is "Feed the Children",. My foot. My wife & I raised 7 children by our selves, No Govt. help. We clothed them, fed them, made sure they finished High School. We did our best, all except one turned out fine.

You and I are alike in our upbringing but that was then and this is now. Again it's all about putting ones "wants" in front of their "needs".

My dad was a medic in the army and he said the salvation gave cigarettes to our servicemen for free while the red cross charged them, I fully support the Salvation Army bell ringers every chance I get. They did a lot for our servicemen by being there at there time of need. Support the Salvation Army.

My kids work at the local soup kitchen on holidays cooking and serving dinners. The poor and needy needs us.

Growing up poor I was happy to have a peanut butter and jelly sammich.
It doesn't take much to survive. And I was happy. That was 60 years ago.

I'm happy to give to others who can't help themselves.

A pound of chopmeat, a jar of tomato sauce, a pound of pasta, some while bread turned into garlic bread, add some grated cheese makes a great cheap meal anytime.

When I was out of work we planted 100 tomato plants and canned sauce.

I needed no help from anyone we made it on our own. I was out of work in '83, '84, '85. The supermarket has marked down meats.?
Survival the kids come first. Everytime it got worse the stronger I became.
