I love the K frame round butt target grips? I guess that's what their called...banana grips?

Have a pair on my 3" 66, and have been wanting another pair for my 2.5" 686.

After some searching I found that Ahrends makes a "Retro Banana Grip."

Just sent off a check for a pair of hand rubbed tung oil Goncalo Alves.

Anyone ever have grips made by them? Pretty stand up company?

This is the style I got. They match the shape of the factory grips pretty good...at least in the picture from their site.

Wish they offered them with the S&W logo.

Mine.

I had a set of their cocobolo Retro Boot grips, no finger grooves for a 3" 65 I used to own. Excellent quality. I had mine finished in tung oil, which left a smooth finish but once you applied grip pressure it gave good traction.

I also had a set of their Tactical grips, also no finger grooves. I didn't like them. The frontstrap was flat with somewhat sharp edges and the polyurethane finish was quite slick.

I have Ahrend's on my 686. Fit and finish are great! They are a little thin for me but I have big hands.

That's funny. The ones I had were a little on the thick side for me, but I have smallish hands. They did feel good in my hands and were definitely manageable.

Round Butt Target aka "Banana" grips are some of my favorites.

Back in the day (early 80s) I cut down a couple of sets to the bottom of the grip frame ...... for concealed carry on 2 1/2" 19s and 65s....... my version of the "Boot Grip"...... before I met Craig Spegel.

Haven't tried Ahrend's....... as I've got some old Smith's in my "Big Box-O-Grips"....

No banana’s, but I have a set of retro targets on an N frame i’m Very happy with. I enjoyed doing business with them and got exactly what I requested. Worth the wait, can’t beat the price with a stick. I too think the tung oil finish is the way to go.

I have a set of Ahrends Retro Combats in Cocobolo on my 66-4.

Provides great control at the range and good looks at the BBQ.

My M34-1 (1988), came with the banana target grips like the ones you pictured. They were actually described as 'Ladysmith' banana targets. I've since outfitted other J frames with the smooth targets, which I prefer, especially on harder recoiling pistols.

Eventually, I'll get around to stripping them and refinishing in either linseed or tung oil, since I have both.
