About 8:00 PM my phone rang and when I looked at the number I knew it was from the Huntsman Cancer Hospital. :)

It was Brittany, my surgeons PA. I first met Brittany back in Feb 2013. She is one of my favorite Angels.

Brain MRI and ct-scans have been clean for almost 2 1/2 years. Early last year I had a couple advanced metastatic melanoma tumors start growing on the back of my ear. This is the area where the cancer was first diagnosed back in Oct 2011.

It metastasized and traveled from the side of my scalp to my the side of my face by my ear, my brain, lung, a cracked rib, pelvis, adrenal gland, abdomen and into my stomach muscles over a period of about 6 years. All of that is gone now due to some amazing oncologists and treatments.

When I was first diagnosed I was given less than a 15% chance to live another 5 years ago. I've made it a lot longer than 5 years. :D

I've had about 100 days of appointments over the years at the hospital with a 400 mile round trip for each day of appointments.

I've had several different chemo treatments, radiation, immunotherapy treatments, surgeries and in the early days prior to having treatments that targeted the cancer I participated in a couple of different clinical trials.

When the cancer returned to my ear this past Feb they resected the tumor and the area around it and started me on another immunotherapy.

I now have 4 new tumors on my ear. January 6th they did a punch biopsy on one of them and it came back as metastatic melanoma.

Brittany called last night to tell me that the Tumor Board, made up by the oncology doctors, nurses, PAs and researchers had met yesterday morning and they decided that I should start another "injectable" where they inject a virus/immunotherapy directly into the tumors.

I've had this injectable treatment before and it kills cancer.

I am sooo excited to get started. I am sooo excited to kill more cancer. Not a lot of people get to kill cancer but I do with the help of all the amazing Angels who work at The Huntsman Cancer institute in Salt Lake City.

Its going to die a slow and painful death....... Color me grateful. :D

I had to fix one of the S's so I don't get an infraction for posting foul language. ;)

Some might be confused at your upbeat tone in the face of adversity. At times like these, knowing you're the focus of a top notch medical team is such a relief and a Blessing. All you need to do is follow instructions and Pray.

Keep it up "Killer", and I'm in your corner praying for you.

I'm an investor in an Israeli biotech, which is working on early cancer drug candidates. While my primary goal is to make loot, a side benefit, if they succeed, will be the pride in being a small part in the fight against cancer.
Cancer would have claimed my father, had not Parkinson's claimed him first.
My mother did live 54 years after her surgery, however with side effects for all of that time.

My best friend is dealing with cancer of the jaw, and has been for about 2 years now. His current left jaw bone came from his leg, and he's having a time of it getting everything healed up to get his new teeth. Reading your upbeat attitude and hearing your good new is inspiring to me. Thank you so much for sharing it with us here.

While Greg is a hunter and likes having a few guns around (many that used to be mine), he's not a member here, or even aware of the forum most likely. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure he even owns a S&W. I've got to fix that!

I am going to share your story with him, because he needs a good lift of the spirit. He's scheduled to see his group of doctors this Friday to discuss their next step. He's cancer free now, but not healed. They asked him to bring his "Family", so he's a little worried.

I think you will inspire him as well. Thanks again, and God Bless!

Good to hear that you will be getting the treatments.

Prayers sent that the treatments will be successful and that all cancer will be killed. God Bless.

Don

Thanks Don. I don't doubt or question that the treatment will kill the cancer. :D

As far as I'm concerned the cancer doesn't stand a chance!! :D

Its doomed. ;)

Thanks again for all the comments.

I got a phone call from the pharmacy at the hospital at 8:30 this morning, they're not wasting any time.

Jocelyn emailed me some papers to sign. I got them signed and sent them back to her.

The drugs have been ordered. :D

The first injection is scheduled for Feb 3rd and I can't wait. :D

Three weeks later the second injections and then every other week for up to 6 months or sooner if we're happy with how things are going.

I'm planning on injections for 3 months at the most. ;)
