Hello All
I was out and about today and found this Mod 29 ND in a pawn shop near me. I'm just looking for a little input about it. SN of 220828 puts it at a 1961 or 62 per the 4th edition. The bluing looks to be in the same condition on both sides with a couple minor defects, along with light wear in the usual places and a pretty pronounced turn line. The shop owner did allow me to pull the stocks and there are no numbers on them, so I wonder of they're not original. The mechanics appear to be in very good condition, good lock up, etc. The bore and cylinders look good with no rust evident overall. Along with the presentation case and tools shown, gun comes with the Instruction Page and a sheet of VCI(?) paper. Took a quick look on GB and see some pretty high prices for these pieces so I thought I'd see what some actual prices might be for one of these beauties. I've been wanting a 29 for some time but never came across the "right' one. Actually wrapping your hand around one must make all the difference! Any input or advice regarding value or anything else will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

OP, just work a deal and do it, don't hesitate.

I've got close relation to that one at 220834.

Everything looks correct. Probably shipped in late 61 or early 62. Coke bottle stocks are correct and as Art Doc stated, they were not numbered.
Clamshell case and accessories are also correct.

Bill

Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure if those were cokes (I didn't want to say it to myself in case they weren't) or not as I'd never seen any in person. I think Im getting more thrilled by the minute!! Thanks again!

Great buy! If you think you like the way it looks, you are really going to like the way it shoots. Given moderate range time and good care, that 29 will certainly keep its value for a long, long time.

A couple of weeks ago I found one just like yours (made 1961) in about the same condition. I paid more than you and mine didn't come with any accessories. However I don't care as these early 29s are nearly impossible to find locally, and I didn't want to trust getting one from Gunbroker. I agree that being able to hold it in your hand and inspect it first is worth paying a little extra. Too many of these old guns were abused or messed with over the years so you're taking a chance buying sight unseen.

That is a decent price and a nice gun. If you want to have the case reworked there is a forum member who does really nice work. I had him do several for me. Congrats!

Guys, guys, guys. The S is part of the serial number. You need to get into the habit of including the letter prefix. It is not unimportant.

And . . . I'm not being snarky. Just aiming to help you be more accurate in your posts.
