Stimulus Checks

We got $795 deposited today.
Not even close to the max $2900 for two working adults with 1 dependent kid at home.
We made too much $ last year to get the full amount. As expected, I knew they'd figure out a way to screw us out of it - or most of it.
And yeah, that is how I look at it. With our income we've paid well over a half a million bucks in taxes over the last 40 years.
But because we pay so much in taxes (higher than average income) we get less benefit than people who haven't paid nearly as much into the system.
That's the way it always works. The harder you work, and more you earn, the more they take in order to give it to someone else.
How's that go? "FROM each according to his ability, TO each according to his need". Sound familiar?

Some years ago, probably 10~15, I was bemoaning my high taxes to a friend in Hawaii. He listened patiently, and then said, "Nice problem to have."

True enough.

(Since I am now retired, my income, has dropped like a stone. The IRS is gonna send me a check this year! Hot damn! I shoulda started making less money sooner!)

Nothing yet here either, but I suspect it's because even though we filed electronically, we weren't due a refund so no bank account information was included on our return. I'm thinking ours will come in the form of a check, whenever it does finally arrive. Now that I read about what the check will look like on the memo line, I'm not even sure I want it. Disgusting.

I do read that in a few days, the IRS will have a feature on its website where we can press a "Get My Payment" button that will provide the status. That should be good for a few giggles. :)

In our case, whenever the funds do arrive, they'll be used to shore up our finances resulting from my wife's being unable to finish teaching for this school year. The government decided to call this a stimulus payment, but for most of us, it's more of a life ring tossed to the many floundering in stormy economic seas during this crisis.

I was stimulated last night at 2 am. No stimulating the gun industry for me. I'll be using it for some projects around the house.

I am with you on this....only complained about taxes once. My accountant said, " when you make a lot of money, you pay a lot in taxes...good problem to have." Now, I too, am retired and my income is currently about 20% of last year's....hope I get one of those checks.

My son got his this morning. He's off work due to the virus but in good shape financially so he's putting it into his '67 Mustang project now that he has some time on his hands.

I didn't get mine yet but I've heard that social security recipients are farther back in the line. When it does come I'm going to stimulate the economy by adding an M&P Compact45 to my collection. It'll be my first in that caliber so I expect that feeding it will be a problem till the ammo shortage eases and I can buy bullets and primers for it.

Got mine this morning. It's gonna do what the rest of my cash is doing... staying piled up while I use my no interest credit card to spend. When work comes back I'll pay my card off in full, but I'd rather have liquid cash than a credit line at a time like this.
