Jigsaw and Miter saw

Hey Guys, I am looking for the guide to choose the best jigsaw and miter saw. Recently, I searched on google and found the link toolsbros.com to choose the wood tools. Is it good to get help? if anybody has other tool buying guide, please share. Thanks in advance.

A jig saw is a great candidate for being cordless if any tool is. Dewalt , Makita, Milwaukee are all good. Fine Home Building magazine does tool comparisons.

In addition, Porter Cable and Bosch make good tools too. Most make a diy grade and professional grade tool. Buy pro grade if it won't kill your bank acct

Makita slide compound saw. It's been the most useful saw I've owned. They also make a cordless version, but I prefer corded tools.

For a jigsaw, the Bosch "progressor" is the nuts.

Both of mine are Skil saws. Work just fine for me.

Wood magazine does excellent tool reviews and they aren't afraid to say something negative.
The print magazine spells everything out but the online reviews leave out some details.

Remember, if you buy the cheapest tool there is then you end up buying two. The one you bought and the one you should have bought.
Don't buy the cheapest but don't buy the most expensive either.

This is especially good advice when it comes to buying blades. Even for light-duty work, you'll get much better results and spend less in the long run buying the $60 miter saw blade rather than the $35 one.

There are plenty of solid saws available. It's a matter of what feels good in your hand, the type of work you'll be doing and price. Kick some tires at the big box home stores and check youtube. I've become a big fan of Ridgid tools, and if you go cordless, their 18 volt line is huge and not expensive.

I've cut 1/2" aluminium plate no problem with my Dewalt jigsaw. It does have a cord though.

If you're in the market for a hand held jig saw, I've had a corded Bosch that has been a great tool. It's very smooth compared to others that I've tried over the years, and great quality. My Bosch is over 20 years old, if they still make them like they used to, I'd highly recommend.

If you're looking for a floor scroll saw machine, not sure who's making a decent one these days. Rule of thumb is that you can't go wrong with Powermatic, they're top notch. Get something with some weight to it, nothing worse than a jig saw vibrating/rattling around. I've got a made in USA jig saw that came out of a commercial wood working shop, and it runs nice.

For miter saws, I've got a no frills Milwaukee that I've had for years. It's a good cutting saw, so I've resisted buying the latest and greatest new fangled laser guided thing that's out there. If I were to get a new one, I'd probably go with a Makita. A lot of people seem to like DeWalt miter saws, but they seem kind of cheap to me...?

I have a Bosch jig saw and it's amazing. I especially like the tool less blade changing.

I have a 12" Dewalt chop saw. Also very good.

I have hundreds of hours of use with both and recommend either.

Start out with what you'll end up with.

I have a Dewalt 8.5" compound miter saw as I didn't have room for a larger saw. If you can, buy the 10" model as 10" blades are an industry standard. The 12" saw has a rather large footprint and is really a commercial saw. Buy it if you really need it.

For sustained work , go with corded devices but for small projects, a cordless Jig saw works well. An overlooked saw that has come in real handy is the oscillating saw for making blind cuts. Oftentimes, they can do what a jig saw can't do. They are not too expensive. Dewalt, Bosch and Milwaukee make great tools. Avoid "homeowner" grade tools if you can.

In the construction business most of the professional trim carpenters use DeWalt but if your not using it 8 hours a day you could get something a little less expensive that would work fine. I have a Ryobi 10" sliding mitre and 18V cordless jigsaw and a Skil corded jigsaw and they work great

I have to agree, I have both and am more that satisfied. Buy the best and only cry once

Son has bought Boush for years and never had an issue. I buy Dewalt. Did buy a Boush screw gun that has never ever had an issue. It's getting tired. Needs brushes I'm guessing.
