I go out and get beer, cigs and gas just like before the pandemic. You'd never know anything was wrong if you just woke up from a long sleep.
The market is another story in itself. First it was the TP shortage but that seems to have been remedied. Next was the social distancing and how the market decided to implement it. That caused me to have a wild and unfruitful discussion with a woman in front of me along with several employees. I thoroughly enjoyed that day and even more when posting it here a while back. You see putting blue tape on the floor without any signage doesn't tell me a darn thing. I take full credit for it being fully resolved because the next time I came in there were signs everywhere and stickers on the floor showing you where to safely stand.
That wasn't the end of the "feel good" things the employees thought up to jerk us around. The latest was to make every other aisle one way. The arrows were on the floor so few people paid any attention to them. Being the good citizen that you all know I am I paid attention to the signs.
About the only thing it did was double the time I spent shopping because I had to go down aisles for no reason except to get to the aisle I needed to be in. It sucked because some items I wanted were only about five feet in and I couldn't reach them. Maybe it was good because it gave me more time to observe the behavior of other shoppers. As I was about to pass a lady standing in the middle of an aisle I said "Excuse me Ma'am". I thought she was going to drop like one of those fainting goats.
Another thing new was two employees at the door. Apparently they were only allowing so many people inside so you had to wait outside for your turn to shop. Of course this is only my opinion but it was and still is a bad idea. It's a big store so shoppers were already spread out. The issue remains at the checkout lanes where people are always backed up.
Those two bean counters would be better off opening up two more lanes and getting people out. You see in the old days if there were 3 or more customers in line the store would automatically open up another lane. As it stands now you have people waiting to checkout backed up down aisles where others are trying to shop.
What also gets me shaking my head is people that venture out side to shop for only one or two items. Is your health really worth that risk? I like to push peoples buttons here in the Forum but I only go out when necessary and make it worth my while in doing so.
There's an old saying that goes "measure twice..cut once". I used to apply something similar when I was working. Don't create a new problem when solving an old one. This seems to be lacking at all levels in Society.
So with all of the new changes nothing has really changed at all.
