Not my idea but it works GREAT

My bank has the self serve coin machine. It’s free of charge for account holders. I fill a 1lb coffee can and it usually works out to just over $100.

Ever since all the stores and filling stations went to chip reader credit cards several years ago I rarely use any cash or coins. There may be a dollar or two worth of change in my house or truck and I keep some 20's and 50's in my wallet for emergencies but I might go six months without ever using any cash. Paying for parking at football games or events is about the only time I can think of that it's necessary. I like to be able to look at my account on my phone every day or two to remind me exactly what I spent my money on, it sure goes fast!

In the novel Monte Walsh, Monte and Joe have a justment against them for $100. They travel around to various places and get 10,000 pennies. They pay the man whose "$10 wagon" happened to get busted up, and make him count it in front of them. They also get a signed receipt for every $1 counted.

Great idea but it isn't new.

I still get $200-300 per month out of the bank ATM for all miscellaneous purchases. Used to get $30-50 a month in change when I worked. All went to savings. Now I keep $2-3 in quarters for parking meters in a pouch in my car, and might have $20 in change in the house. That's all summer, so far.

Just a tip, debit card transactions do not have the same buyer protection as a credit card. Even if you win a disputed charge, you are out the money until the resolution. Just a watch out.

Good idea!

Only problem for me is that I own ZERO coins.

Keep emergency cash in my pocket and in my truck, can't remember the last time I had to use it.

Wife and I went to Aldi and didn't have a quarter for a cart LOL

I hit the local Walleyed Mini Mart on occasion for beef, beer and mixed nuts but can only recall a bill feeder and change return at the self help stand.
I'll take a closer look for a way to feed silver.
Grabbed the loose change out of the console cubby, snagged my beer and assorted sundries and found the change feeder at the self serve. Looked like the mouth of Talky Tina but I needed $0.73 and only had $0.67.
